The Suffering of Jesus

I believe often times when we think of Jesus on the cross, we try to glamourize it, instead of seeing it as it really was. The prophet Isaiah tells us that "His apprearance was so disfigured, beyond that of any man, and His form marred beyond human likeness." Isaiah 52:14. There was nothing glamourous about the
death of Jesus. He was beaten, scorned, despised, ridiculed, humiliated-they even cast lots for His garments at the foot of the cross. He was obedient unto death..."He poured out His life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors." Isaiah 53:12. It was God's will to do this. He had you and me in mind. God laid on Jesus the sins of all. Every sin you have ever done or will do, was put on Jesus that day at the cross. He went through the punishment and death in our place. He made a way, that we could not ever do on our own. Can you just think for a minute how dearly God loves you? Well, I am so thankful that the story doesn't end with Jesus dying on the cross. Three days later, He rose, just like He said He would. The angel said to Mary Magdalene "He is not here, He has risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay." She not only saw the place where Jesus laid, she saw our risen Lord. One day, one glorious day, for all who have put their trust in Jesus, will see Him face to face. When we look at our life, we see how quickly time passes. If you have children, it's as though you blink and they are grown. Make the most of the time you have here and don't be concerned about worldly things (material things), instead, be concerned with storing up your treasures in heaven. Things that matter for the kingdom....sharing the gospel, helping someone in need, living your life for Jesus and walking with Him every step of the way. We do not know how long we will have on this earth. This time here is so short in comparsion to eternity. It is almost hard for us to wrap our minds around the thought of eternity, but we need to stop and ask ourselves, are we ready? Are we truly ready? If there is any doubt whatsoever that you may not spend eternity with Jesus, stop right now and pray, Lord, I am a sinner and I know there is nothing I can do on my own to earn my way into heaven.I believe that Jesus paid the price for my sins, I believe He died on the cross and rose again. I am sorry for my sins, forgive me. Today, I want to serve You, Lord Jesus, I give you my life. Help me to live for You. If you prayed that prayer, it is done....you are a child of the King and your sins have been forgiven. The angels in heaven are rejoicing. Jesus promises to never leave you nor forsake you. When you believe, you are marked with the seal of the Holy Spirit who "guarantees our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession-to the praise of His glory." Eph 1:13-14. Also in 2 Cor 5:5 that says God "has given us the
Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come." His Spirit that He places in us testifies that we belong to God. Thank you Lord Jesus for all You have done!
