Are you faithful in your giving?

"He who gathered much did not have too much, and he who gathered little did not have too little." 2 Cor 8:15 This verse speaks about the fact that your giving is based on what you have, not what you do not have and when you give from what you have, there will always be enough. The Bible speaks of money more than it does heaven or hell. This should make us stop and think for a minute. Are you tithing? God asks us to bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, not part of a tithe, but all of it. 10% is all God asks of us, and it is all His anyway. He does not need our money, but through our giving, He is teaching us to be faithful and look to Him (nothing else) as our sole provider. He is the one who causes man to become rich. He alone has the power to give wealth. He can also take it away just as quickly as it came. Are you trusting in your employer or your stock options or a family member? Or are you trusting in the One who supplies it all? I have heard people say, "well, if I tithe, then I won't have enough to pay my bills." God says in His word that "He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be made rich in every way, so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God." 2 Cor 9: 10-11 You trust God for your salvation, can you trust Him with money? That is the question. Money in itself is not evil, but it is the LOVE of money that is the root of all kinds of evil. If you get caught up in the world, you will want more and more and you are never satisfied. You need a bigger house, a nicer car, more clothes...the list goes on and on, but these will never satisfy you. You may find yourself spending money you don't have and putting items on credit that you do not need and you will end up being a "slave to the lender." Money is tied to your spiritual life in so many ways. This is a matter of the heart. When you start tithing faithfully, I promise, even more than that GOD promises that your needs will be met. He didn't say "wants" however, He says "needs." I am speaking from experience. Before I began working full-time, I worked part-time and went to school full-time. During this time, I continued to give to the Lord. I did not know some days where the money would come from, but I always had enough for the boys and gas in my car and food and a roof over our head. So many loving people stepped up in my life and provided for me and the boys in ways that just blew my mind. I know that this was God working through these people who were being obedient to Him. My average take home pay was about 100.00 per week. That is 400.00 a month that we lived on for about two years. You do the math....God is faithful! He is not a man that He could lie. I don't give because I "have" to give, I give because I love my Lord and I know that He alone is the source of everything good in my life. He may not answer when YOU think He should, but He is ALWAYS right on time! He knows what is best for you. We sometimes think we know, but we really do not have a clue. Trust in the One who holds your world in His hands.
