God answers prayers
Is there something or someone you have been fervently praying to God for and yet you hear nothing? When we pray and ask God for things, we must make sure that it lines up with His word. Praying for the salvation of a loved one or for God to meet your needs are examples of prayers that line up with His word. Praying to have someone else's spouse or praying for God to cause you to win the lottery are not. While He alone has the power to give you wealth, there are conditions that must be met. Are you wanting to get rich for your selfish gain? Or are you asking Him for an increase so that you can be a blessing to others? What are your motives behind your prayers? God knows your heart, He knows everything about you and why you do what you do. In James we read "You do not have, because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive because you ask with the wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures." 4:2-3 When we pray, we must remember that God sees the big picture from beginning to end. He always has our best in mind. We may think we know what is best, but truly we do not. We must also remember that God works in His time, not ours. The answer to your prayer is on its way, but you need to have patience and look to God while you wait for the answer. Sometimes, God lovingly says no. This may be to grow us in our faith and to learn to trust Him more. If we always got what we want when we wanted it, we would become conceited and not rely on God. We also would not learn anything and we may view God as a genie in a bottle who grants our every wish. God desires for us to be solely dependent on Him. He loves to give gifts to His children and He does so often. But as Paul said Philippians we should learn to be content in whatever the circumstances may be. Whether we are in need or we have plenty. We should learn the secret to being content. 4:11-12 For those of you who are praying and have possibly been praying for years for a specific thing, keep in mind that God loves you and is not slow in keeping His promise as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9 For God a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 2 Peter 3:8 He works in His time and He has not forgotten you. If you have not received the answer, press on and keep praying until He gives you an answer. Also when you pray, if there is someone you need to forgive, do it. Keep your heart pure before the Lord. Jesus promises that "(He) will do whatever you ask in (His) name, so that (He) may bring glory to the Father. You may ask (Him) for anything IN HIS NAME, and (He) will do it." John 14:13-14 The key is in His name. Is what you are asking for something that Jesus would ask for and bring glory to God? Keep your eyes on Him my friend and in the morning lay your requests before Him and wait with expectation. Psalm 5:3 He loves you dearly. Trust in the One who holds your world in His hands.
