Faith that moves mountains.
The Lord was speaking to my heart this morning about faith. Faith requires action on our part. It is not sitting passively and wishing something would happen. It is placing your faith in God and presenting your requests to Him and waiting until He gives you the answer. If our requests line up with His word and we do not doubt in our hearts, He will answer us. Jesus tells us in Matthew, "I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." 17:20-21 What is your "mountain?" Is it needing money to pay your bills? Is it restoration of a broken relationship? Is it being set free from an addiction? Whatever it is, Jesus will come to your rescue. The answer may not come as quickly as you would like, but God will answer you. You must wait patiently on Him and remember it is in His time. While you are waiting, God will strengthen you, He will give you His grace and He will mold your character if you keep your eyes on Him and lean on His word. "Jesus replied, I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea' and it WILL be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer." Matthew 21:21-22 Jesus does not say it may be done, He says it WILL be done. When you stay in God's word and lean on Him for everything, your desires begin to line up with His. By that I mean, you start desiring what He would want and your desires are in line with His word. It isn't asking for things for selfish gain or desiring someone's else's spouse or car or whatever, that is not Biblical."You do not have, because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with the wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasure." James 4:2-3 It is you taking an active stand on God's word and reminding Him according to scripture, what He promises. It is taking God at His word and believing He will do what He says He will do. God always looks at the motive of our hearts. What is the motive behind what you are asking for? Is it for your own selfishness or is it for the glory of God? Over and over we read in God's word about perseverance. Persevere is to "persist in or remain constant to a purpose, idea or task in spite of obstacles." Friend, this means pushing through and remaining steadfast while you wait for your answer from God. It is not throwing your hands up when you don't receive the answer immediately. It is continuing to seek Him knowing that He always has your best in mind and will give you an answer in His time. "Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when He has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him." James 1:12 God desires for us to seek Him first-to put Him before everything in our life and be obedient to Him and His call. Charles Stanley once said, "be obedient to God and leave the consequences up to Him." We do not just trust God when things are good, we trust Him in all the difficulties and let Him do a work in us that only He can do. "So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness." Colossians 2:6-7 God will strengthen you and He is with you every step of the way. Give Him all your cares and concerns and know that He will work it all out for your good.
