Are you His?

"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord', will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophecy in Your name  and drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from Me you evildoers." Matthew 7:21-23 This is a hard scripture to read and it should send chills up your spine. Notice Jesus said "many" will say to Him on that day...There are many who think that they are saved because they believe Jesus died on the cross and was raised from the dead. But James tells us that even the demons believe and they actually tremble. 2:19 Now I am not trying to scare you into salvation, I am just asking you to take an honest look at your relationship with God. Does He know you intimately? When we ask Jesus to come in and be Lord and Savior of our life, He immediately places His Spirit in us and begins the process of transformation or changing us from the inside out making us more and more like Him. This is a process and it does not happen overnight, but there is real change! This change is not something you do on your own. Your desires change. You do not want to do the things you used to do-this is because you now have the Holy Spirit living on the inside of you guiding you and convicting you of sin. I want to share with you my personal testimony. I grew up in church. I went to service most Sundays. I believed (in my head) that Jesus died on the cross and was raised from death to life. I believed He was the only way to God. I was even baptized when I was 25, however, I lived my life the same way everyone else in the world did. I was no different, but if you asked me if I was "saved," I would have told you yes. You see, what I had was only "head knowledge," this knowledge of Jesus did not penetrate my heart. I could give you so many examples of the sin that ruled my life for so long, but I will spare you because this is not about me, it is about what Jesus did for me.  In 2008, I had to have emergency gall bladder surgery. It was a scary time and I realized, hey, I am not in control...I could have possibly died. But God knew exactly what He was doing. As I was home recovering, God had me all to Himself. I had a "thought" to start reading my Bible. And friend, this was not just a thought, God placed this thought in me. I can tell you, I was not looking, but God so rich in mercy and grace, opened my eyes....for the first time in my life, I saw Him for who He was-which in turn made me see how sinful and desperate I was. I got down on my knees and cried out to God! From that moment on, God began a work in me, one that I definitely could not have done on my own. He healed me completely of an eating disorder I had struggled with for years and I mean years. I looked at the sin I had done in my life and was sickened...God began changing my desires. I now wanted to please Him, not out of duty or rules, but because I fell intimately in love with Jesus and now I desired to do His will, not mine. Jesus is LORD, yes, He is Savior, but if He is not your Lord-He is not your Savior. There is no in between. You are either for Him or for satan and the kingdom of darkness. I am asking you to check yourself, to see whether or not you belong to Him. If there is any doubt whatsoever you are His, ask Him to reveal this to you and I promise, He will! God longs for everyone to be saved. Hell was not created for us, but for satan and his demons. When people go to hell, it is because they choose to, God does not want anyone to go to hell. The choice is completely up to us. God gave us this free will. I am praying for all who read this that God will give you confirmation that you belong to Him and if not, that He will so lovingly draw you to Him like the prodigal son.You have not gone to far and there is nothing that God will not forgive you for. He longs to show you compassion. He longs for you to be His.
