Broken

Broken, what does this word mean to you? The word is defined as "shattered or fractured; subdued totally, tamed or humbled." What God desires from us is a broken and contrite spirit. It is coming to the end of yourself. It is getting to the point in your life that you recognize, you cannot do it on your own. It is an awakening of your soul that you are a sinner in need of a Savior. It is looking at yourself honestly before the Lord. When we compare ourselves to the beauty and majesty of God and His holiness and righteousness, we realize we are nothing. We are nothing without Him. He is the One who gives us breath each morning. He knows each of us by name. The Creator of the universe desired to create a people that He loves so dearly and wants each of us to know Him intimately-personally. God is not just "up there somewhere," or a "big man in the sky" He is LORD, He is Father God. He is your maker. He is right here in your midst! It is not just enough to know about Him. It isn't enough to go to church and believe He is who He says He is....it is KNOWING Him, knowing Him intimately. Friend, it isn't enough to call Jesus your Savior, if He isn't your Lord, He is not your Savior. We think that by doing things we can earn this right to be called His child. There is never enough that we could do that could earn us this salvation. This salvation, God so freely gives to us through His Son Jesus. This gift of grace, is simply that...it is a gift. When we look at the cross, and how Jesus willingly laid down His life for you, for me-sinners who were not looking, but God so rich in mercy and love, draws us to Him. It is when we are broken, that we see our need for Him. We realize then, that nothing on earth can satisfy except Jesus. Oh, how He satisfies....every part of your life, every need you have. When you make Jesus Lord of your life, He is Lord over all! When He is Lord, He begins to change you from the inside out. This is nothing you can do on your own. He changes your desires and He changes your heart. The Bible says that we cannot go on sinning (habitually) once we have tasted and seen that the Lord is good. This is because His Spirit now lives inside of us. His Spirit will not allow it. Yes, we will sin, but not habitually. Someone who was addicted to drugs or porn or whatever, will no longer do those things. We desire to please our Father....not to earn salvation, but because of salvation. It is out of love for Him, that we do good deeds. It is not about following rules and regulations. When Jesus comes in, He begins to take over and you want to please Him because of what He has done for you. We must make that choice. "Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake His way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the Lord, and He WILL have mercy on him, and to our God , for He WILL freely pardon." Isaiah 55:6-7 God tells us to come to Him "all you who are thirsty, come to the waters and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and mild without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy. Listen, listen to Me and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare. Give ear and come to Me; hear Me, that your soul may live." Isaiah 55:1-5 Come to Him my friend and live. There is true freedom in Christ, like you have never known before.
