Moments We Feel Far From God

We will go through periods in our lives where we may not feel God is close to us and that He is far away. It is in these times, we need to cling to His promises. We need to remember He said He will never leave or forsake us. Hebrews 13:5. Never means never....He is always with us, whether we feel He is or not. God is faithful and true. He is One who cannot lie and does not change His mind. Numbers 23:19 He leads the blind by ways they have not known, He turns darkness into light before them and makes the rough places smooth. These are the things He will do and He will not forsake them. Isaiah 42:16
During the times we feel God is far away we need to remember that His word is truth and it is not based on our feelings. His word is still truth whether we believe it or not. We also should look inwardly to see if there is any unconfessed sin in our life. "If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; but God has surely heard my voice in prayer." Psalm 66:18 Ask the Lord to reveal any hidden sin. The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? Jeremiah 17:9 It is so easy for us to deceive ourselves if we do not stay immersed in His word and let His truth penetrate our hearts. satan would like nothing more than for us to become weary and discouraged and to just give in. But we have the One living inside us that is greater than the one who is in the world! Jesus has already won the victory for us. Now it is up to us, to keep running the race, to keep persevering when we don't feel like it and to shine brightly for our Lord and Savior Jesus.
When I have moments that I feel far from God, I turn on praise music and begin to worship Him. Instead of focusing on myself, I turn my focus to Him. I also read His word and let Him speak to my heart. Whatever I may be going through at the time seems to just fade away as I seek God's face and remember what is important. Christ died for you and for me. He died so that we may have life and have it more abundantly. He never promised there would not be struggles and problems. In fact, He promised that we would have them, but that He would be right there with us and have His peace. John 16:33 We can have His peace in the worst of times as we lean on Him and know that He will see us through. Things may not turn out the way we think they should, but we must remember, that God knows what is best for each of us and He knows what it will take for us to become totally dependent on Him. We were created by Him and for Him. Colossians 1:16
I have had my share of struggles, some have been really hard, but I know one thing is for sure-God has never left me. In my struggles, I have learned to trust Him more, to lean on Him like never before and that He  will never fail me. Struggles exercise our faith...and they cause us to remember what or rather who is important in life...and that is Jesus! We tend to think at times that we can do it on our own, or we know what is best, but we do not. Whatever you are struggling with today, give it to Jesus-let Him carry your load. He wants to do this for you. Worrying does not make the problem go away. Trust that Jesus is going to see you through.
In the moments that you feel far from God, cry out to Him my friend! Ask Him to help you. He longs to be gracious to you; He rises to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for Him! Isaiah 30:18
