He Chose You to Have Life Through Jesus

It baffles me sometimes when I really sit and think that the mighty and awesome God of all the universe who created the heavens, the earth and everything in it, chose me and chose you. "To the Lord your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, the earth and everything in it. Yet the Lord set His affection on your forefathers and loved them and HE CHOSE YOU, their descendants, above all the nations as it is today." Deuteronomy 10:14-15 Take a moment and let those verses sink in. Let them penetrate your heart. God chose us...our beautiful, wonderful God wants to have a relationship with each of us. His plan of redemption was set into motion before the foundation of the world. He knew we were all sinners in need of a  Savior.
If you go back to the book of Genesis, you will find that God says, "let US make man in OUR image, in OUR likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth and over all the creatures that move along the ground." 1:26 Notice the emphasis on "us and "our".  Jesus has always been, He was with God in the beginning and He is here with us now. Jesus left His throne in heaven and came down to earth for you and for me. "The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." John 1:14 "No one has ever seen God, but God the one and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made Him known." John 1:18 These verses speak of Jesus...He tells us "the One whom God has sent speaks the words of God for God gives the Spirit without limit. The Father loves the Son (Jesus) and has placed everything in His hands. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on Him." John 3:34-36
Jesus came so that you and I could have life in Him. His purpose was to die on the cross in our place so that we could be set free from the bondage of sin and death. Sin came into the world through Adam. We are all sinners and not one of us is righteous, but praise be to God for the One who took our place, the One who bore all of our sin and shame and sacrificed Himself for you and me. Jesus did this because He loves us. "This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us." 1 John 3:16 There is nothing that we can do on our own to earn salvation. We could never do enough good deeds, we could never be "good" enough. God so rich in mercy and grace, did it all for us through the finished work of Jesus on the cross. This is a gift from God. A gift that we only need to accept."for it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast." Ephesians 2:8-9  Jesus says He stands at the door and knocks. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with Me. Revelation 3:20
Jesus never forces Himself in, He so patiently waits for us to ask Him in, to cry out to Him and tell Him we need Him! If you feel a sort of tug at your heart, this is God's Spirit drawing you to Himself. Don't harden your heart to this, "today, if you hear His voice, do not harden you hearts." Hebrews 3:8 Friend, you and I do not know if tomorrow will come and if this will be the last chance to accept God's free gift of salvation. Every one of us will face death and after that we will live eternally, either in heaven or in hell. We make that decision. We are made alive in Christ when we chose Him. "But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions-it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages He might show the incomparable riches of His grace, expressed in His kindness to us in Christ Jesus." Ephesians 2:4-7
"God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life." 1 John 5:11
