Faith is not based on emotions.

"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith, we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible." Hebrews 11:1-3 The word faith in the dictionary can be defined as "a secure belief in God and acceptance of God's will." Faith in itself or faith in a person/persons will get you nowhere. Our faith should be placed in the One who created the heavens and the earth. The One who sent His only Son to die for you and me so that we could have a relationship with our Father and be washed white as snow through the precious blood of Christ.
Faith is having the assurance that no matter what is going on around you or what you are going through, that God is right there with you, walking with you every step of the way. Faith is trusting God when life is good and when life is hard. Faith is standing on the promises of God no matter what storm you are in and no matter what you "feel." Our feelings come and go. We can be up one minute and down the next. You may not "feel" like God loves you or you may not "feel" forgiven. These are the times we need to cling to God even more and get in His word and find a verse specifically for what we are going through. David said, "The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know Your name will trust in You, for You Lord, have never forsaken those who seek You." Psalm 9:9-10  He also says "I am still confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord." Psalm 27:13-14 At the time that David wrote those verses, he was going through a tough time. There was violence all around him and his enemies were searching for him, yet he did not give into fear. He trusted God and instead of looking at his circumstances, He chose to look to God. It is easy for us to give in to fear or doubt when trouble comes. It is also in our nature to want to try and do things on our own quickly instead of waiting on God.
Have faith in God...trust Him that He will do what He says He is going to do. Over time, as you look to God and lean on Him, He grows your faith. Also as you go through adversity and trials and choose to lean on Him, knowing He will carry you through, your faith in Him will be strengthened as you make it to the other side. I have experienced this firsthand two years ago when my husband and I went through a separation. All of the circumstances screamed-your marriage is over, you are heading for divorce, yet I chose to look to God and trust that He was holding me in His hands. This was not easy...in fact, it was one of the most difficult times in my life, and as the days turned into weeks, then months, I continued to keep my eyes on Jesus who calmed me and gave me a peace that only He could give. I continued to look to Him and prayed that He would heal my marriage. I stood on His word and claimed verses specifically for marriage and that God designed marriage. Not knowing how the situation would turn out, I knew regardless, God had my best in mind and uses all things to work together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. "All things" means exactly that-everything-the good and the bad.About twenty-one months into our separation, God began to heal our marriage! We are now back together and renewed our vows to each other several weeks ago. Praise God, He healed my marriage. However, we must remember that God has given us free will and that free will includes making choices. We cannot force someone to love us. Each of us make choices every day and these choices have consequences-some good, some bad.We will be disappointed by people in our lives, but one thing is sure-Jesus will never disappoint. He can and will take all of our wrong choices and wash them under His blood so that we no longer have to live in shame. He didn't die on the cross so that we could still carry around guilt and heavy burdens...no, He died to set us free! No matter what we have done, He will welcome us with open arms into His family. Have faith in Jesus my friend-He will never let you down. Remember that faith comes from hearing and hearing by the word of God. I strongly encourage you to read His word and let Him speak to your heart. Be blessed!
