Hope in the Lord!
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade-kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time." 1 Peter 1:3-5
As a follower of Christ, we have this precious hope because of what Jesus did for us-though we have not seen Him, we love Him and He fills us with an inexpressible joy that words simply cannot describe no matter what we are facing. Jesus can and will give you peace in the most difficult situation. This is a peace that the world cannot offer. As we face trials and suffer grief, we must keep our eyes on Jesus and know that He is strengthening our faith. As we shine for Him through the trials, we will bring glory and praise to His name. You never know who is watching your life-your co-workers, friends or family. As you trust Jesus to see you through, and continue to praise His name through the hard times, the world will see and God will get the glory.
The writer of Hebrews tells us "we have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure." Hebrews 6:19 Think of an anchor and how it holds the ship steady in the fiercest of storms. An anchor can also be defined as a source of security or stability. When we face difficult situations in life, the Anchor-Christ, will keep us steady. He alone is our security and will hold us in every storm we go through. Always keep in mind that nothing happens to you that God doesn't know about or hasn't allowed. We live in a fallen world that is tainted by sin. We are in a battle and it is not just with satan, but also with the world and our own flesh. Sometimes, our poor choices bring consequences, other times satan is throwing fiery darts at us and yet other times, God may even allow something to happen to us so that we will turn to Him. Everything God does however, He does in love. He knows what is best for us and He knows what it will take for us to realize that we are nothing without Him. "Blessed is the man whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty. For He wounds, but He also binds up; He injures, but His hands also heal." Job 5:17-18
Yes, life can be hard, but God is always good. "All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful for those who keep the demands of His covenant." Psalm 25:10 "For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches to the skies." Psalm 57:10 God is faithful, and whatever you are going through, He will see you through to the other side. One of the most important things you can do as a follower of Christ is to hide His word in your heart and keep your eyes fixed on Him. When the times of trouble come, you will be prepared. "For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures, we might have hope." Romans 15:4
When we are saved, if that was it, God would call each of us home at that moment, but He has not. Friend, you and I are still here for a reason, and that is to bring glory to the name of Jesus. We are to live our lives in such a way that others will want what we have-and that is Jesus.
I am praying for each person today that you will know the hope that only Jesus can give and that He will strengthen you and grow you in Him. I pray that you know the love of Christ and that nothing can separate you from that love.
