Lord, my heart is Yours
When I look back on my life, I see a life that was changed by the power of God. Now, I am not boasting when I say that, I think of how wretched I really was. I was heading straight to hell. Oh sure, I had "head knowledge" of Jesus. I went to church on occasion and could quote scripture. On the outside, I appeared to have it all together, but inside, I was dead. I was like the Pharisees that Jesus spoke about when He told them they clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.(Matthew 23:25) I thought that just because I believed Jesus died on the cross and rose again, that I was saved. However, my life showed very differently. In fact, I was no different than the rest of the world. Sure, I went to church, sometimes I even read my Bible, but I was living the rest of the week in habitual sin-living only to please Dawn and my selfish, sinful desires-not really giving others much thought. That, my friend, is not a life that has been touched by Jesus. I did not realize it at the time, I was still "blind." It is not until God removes the veil from our eyes that we truly see! Job spoke of this spiritual blindness when he said, "My ears had heard of You, but now my eyes see You."42:5 We can hear the word preached, and even be moved at times, but if you have not fully surrendered your heart to Christ and been changed by His Spirit, friend, you are not saved. 1 John 3:9-10 clearly tells us "No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning (habitually), because he has been born of God. This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are. Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother." That is a hard verse to read, but that is how God works-He exposes the darkness and the lies in the truth of His word. His word is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account." Hebrews 4:12-13 That is why many don't read His word or go to church because their sin will be exposed. Oh, but I am so glad that God removes the heart of stone and places His Spirit in us! Ezekiel 36:26 He so lovingly and gently softens our hearts so that we will cry out to Him and see our need for our Lord and Savior! I am so thankful that God did not continue to let me live the life of destruction I was living. Four and a half years ago, my God removed the veil from my eyes and I saw Him so clearly! I surrendered to His call and haven't looked back! God is so rich in love and mercy, and He knows just the right time. He will work through people and circumstances to cause you to look to Him. We, however, must make that choice. God does not force us to choose Him and follow Him. He is so patient with us, not wanting anyone to die in their sin."For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign Lord. Repent and live!" Ezekiel 18:32 Choose this day whom you will serve! Choose God, and you will have a peace and freedom like you have never known. He is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. He promises to never leave or forsake you. He is the Rock!"The Lord is my Rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my Rock in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call to the Lord, who is worthy of my praise, and I am saved from my enemies." Psalm 18:2-3 I praise You, Lord Jesus! To You be the glory and power for ever and ever!
