Washed In the Blood
"To Him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by His blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve His God and Father-to Him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen." Revelation 1:5-6
The blood, the precious blood of Jesus that washes white as snow. He did for us what we could never have done on our own.
Sin came into the world through Adam in the Garden of Eden. "Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned-for before the law was given, sin was in the world. (Romans 5:12-13)." All of us have a sin nature; we are born with this nature. There is no one that has not sinned and no one is "good." Sure, people can do "good" deeds, but that does not make them righteous before God. You cannot do enough good deeds to stand blameless in the sight of God. It is your sin that separates you from a perfect, holy God. In fact, if you cherish (hold on to; love) sin, He will not even hear your prayers. "I cried out to Him with my mouth; His praise was on my tongue. If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened (Psalm 66:17-18)." "But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden His face from you so that He will not hear (Isaiah 59:3)."
But God, so rich in love and mercy had a plan for us-a plan of redemption. He desired a relationship with us and in order for that to happen, we needed a perfect, spotless sacrifice that could take all of our sin away. At just the right time, God sent His one and only Son to be that perfect sacrifice for us. "But now a righteousness from God apart from the law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in His blood (Romans 3:21-25)."
Christ died once and for all; for all who will believe in His name. He is no respecter of persons. It doesn't matter what you have done. His grace is for you! I know firsthand how marvelous His grace is....six years ago, God reached down and grabbed hold of me. He called me and pulled me out of the darkness and into His marvelous light. Like the song says, "I once was lost, but now I'm found." God's amazing grace, that saved a wretch like me! God is patent and long-suffering, wanting all to come to repentance.
Christ will set you free-free from all sin, free from all shame and free from all fear. As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him (Psalm 103:12-13)." So great is the love the Father has for you! Through the blood of His Son, you have right standing before the Creator of the universe. Jesus took the punishment that you and I deserved. He took all of our sin and in turn, we become the righteousness of God through Him (2 Corinthians 5:21).
"Oh the blood of Jesus
Oh the blood of Jesus
Oh the blood of Jesus
That washes white as snow"
Praise be to the Lord Jesus, now and forever more!
"You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because You were slain, and with Your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God and they will reign on the earth (Revelation 5:9-10)."
