Peace In the Storm

"Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He brought them out of their distress. He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. They were glad when it grew calm, and He guided them  to their desired haven." Psalm 107:28-30
In this life, we will go through many trials, disappointments and heartache. Sometimes we do not understand, and we may never understand "why" we struggle or endure pain. Many people suffer injustice and innocent people are wronged every single day. The pain may at times seem too difficult to bear. You may have even wondered at times how you can go on.
But we have the One on our side who promises to never leave nor forsake us. The One who can calm the raging storm around us or simply calm His child. He so lovingly covers us in His grace and at times carries us. "Find rest O my soul in God alone; my hope comes from Him. He alone is my rock and may salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God, He is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge (Psalm 62:5-8)."
God is our Rock~He is the one constant that we can always count on. He never changes. He is the same yesterday, today and forever! Because of this truth, we can know and rest in the fact, that God will deliver us and He will come to our rescue. "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its water roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at the break of day. Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; He lifts His voice, the earth melts. The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress (Psalm 46:1-7)."
Friend, no matter what you may be facing today, God will give you His peace. This peace passes all human understanding. It is in knowing and believing that God is sovereign, or in complete control, that you can give Him all your cares and concerns and in return, He gives you His peace. Your situation may not change right away. In fact, it could be months or years before you may see change, but the promised Holy Spirit, who lives on the inside of every believer, will make His presence known in such a mighty way. There is fullness of joy always in His presence.
You see, this world we live in is not our home. As I have heard said before, we are just passing through. When you think of eternity, this life is just a moment. I think that is why we are not truly satisfied here. I am not saying that we are not satisfied with our Lord and Savior, but we long to be with Him. "Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. Meanwhile, we groan, longing to be clothed in our heavenly dwelling, because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed, but to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. Now it is God who made us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a deposit guaranteeing what is to come (2 Corinthians 5:1-5)."
So, my friend, press on through your journey, knowing not only that heaven is your end destination, but also that God will be with you now until the end of the ages. Don't lose heart, "for our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal (2 Corinthians 4:16-18)."
I want to leave you with these words from Revelation: "Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and His servants will serve Him. They will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night. They will not need the light of the lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever (22:1-5)."
