The Love of My Life
"But I trust in Your unfailing love, my heart rejoices in Your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, for He has been good to me (Psalm 13:5-6)."
Jesus~that name says it all. He is my hope, my life and my everything! He is beautiful and compassionate and His mercies never fail. He is the One I adore. He is the One who took all my sin and shame. He is the One I give my life to. No other name but the name of Jesus.
If you are saved by the blood, think back for a moment to what your life was like before you met Jesus. I don't know about you, but I am so thankful that my Lord did not give up on me~He did not turn His back on me. No, He was long-suffering with me, patiently waiting for me. I was walking in darkness. My heart was so far from God. Oh, I went to church, and talked about the Lord and I did believe in Him, however, this was only head knowledge. It wasn't until March of 2008, my Lord reached down through my darkness and grabbed hold of my heart. I will never forget that day. I cried out to Him in my living room on my knees....sick of the life I was living, sick of the mask I put on day after day.
Something changed that day...it was my heart. My Lord removed the veil that had been over my heart so that I could see Him! I didn't hear a loud voice. There was not a trumpet that sounded, yet, I knew deep within, that something had changed in me. God filled me with His precious Spirit and He slowly began to transform me. I had a hunger for Him and His word. I could not get enough. Every time I opened my Bible, He was speaking to me.
You see my friend,in the years leading up to my salvation, I had always "believed" in Jesus and His finished work on the cross. I read my Bible and went to church, but the rest of the week I lived for me and my selfish, evil desires not giving God a thought. My belief in Jesus was only head knowledge...His truth had not yet permeated my heart. I was like the Pharisees whom Jesus said "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. Blind Pharisees, first clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean. Woe to you teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men's bones and everything unclean (Matthew 23:25-27)." That was once me! I cleaned up the outside of me, but inside, I was desperately wicked!
What changed? Well, Jesus says that no one can come to the Father unless the Holy Spirit draws him (John 6:44). So you see, it is nothing that I did, except that I had come to the end of myself. It was God and His great mercy, that called me out of darkness and into His marvelous light. It was God alone that showered me with His grace and opened my blind eyes so that I could truly see! I am forever grateful to the lover of my soul. He took me and saved me from the pit. He removed my heart of stone and gave me a heart of flesh and put His Spirit within me (Ezekiel 36:26-27).
Apart from the Lord, there is nothing good in any of us. "The Lord looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one (Psalm 14:2-3)." There is nothing we can ever do to earn His favor or His salvation. Truly, it is His precious gift. Jesus Christ took all of our sin, all of our shame~the punishment that we deserved, and in return, gave us His righteousness. He made a way where there was otherwise no way. Through Him and Him alone, we can have fellowship with the God of all creation! Once He makes you His, it is forever! "And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life (1 John 5:11-12)."
My friend, if you are reading this right now and you don't know Jesus, you may know about Him, but you don't truly know Him, cry out to Him right now at this very moment! He is waiting for you. Choose life today my friend. He will never disappoint you. He will never fail you. He is the One faithful, true God who gave His life for you because He loves you so much! "For God so loved the world (you and me) that He gave His One and only Son, that whoever believes (puts his life upon) in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him (John 3:16-17)."
