God Is Your Refuge

"I cry to You O Lord, I say, You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living." Psalm 142:5 God is our portion right now-the land of the living-our lifetime. "Refuge" means protection or shelter as from danger or hardship. Whatever you are facing today, no matter how difficult it may be, God will be there to protect you and keep you. "God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at the break of day. Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; He lifts His voice, the earth melts. The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress." Psalm 46:1-7 This Psalm is written for you and for me....it may seem as though our world is falling apart, but our mighty God is right here in the midst of it all! He will carry you through. The only thing we need to do is simply trust Him and take Him at His word. He is GOD! He is not a man that He should lie, nor a son of man that He should change His mind. Numbers 23:19 God  never promised us a life free from pain and suffering, He did, however, promise to be there with us and never leave us. We live in a fallen world. A world where sin abounds along with the prince of this world-satan. As believers, we fight against the world, the flesh and the devil daily. When you become a Christian, it is then you realize how real the battle is. I cannot stress how important it is for you to stay in God's word and let His truth saturate your mind. The Holy Spirit can then bring certain scripture to your mind just when you need it. You may not be in a storm right now, but eventually my friend you will go through a storm. A few passages that I meditated on before was, "Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He brought them out of their distress. He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. They were glad when it grew calm and He guided them to their desired haven. Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for men." Psalm 107:28-31 And also, "I lift up my eyes to the hills-where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip-He who watches over you will not slumber, indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you-the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day nor the moon by night." Psalm 121:1-6
God is the only one who can give you peace in all circumstances. He will comfort you in your afflictions and struggles and settle your hurting heart. He will quiet you with His love.I learned this when I was in the valley. I had such an unexplainable peace that only my God could give. God will satisfy your every need and He will teach you things that you could only learn in the valley. Fix your eyes on Jesus-the author and perfecter of your faith. Through it all, God is molding you and conforming you into the image of His precious Son. "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that He might be the first born among many brothers." Romans 8:28-29
He is the God of all comfort who comforts us in our troubles, so that we in turn can comfort others in trouble with the same comfort God has so graciously shown us. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Whatever you are going through, God has sovereignly allowed and will use it for your good and for His glory. Take heart my friend. "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, My God in whom I trust." Psalm 91:1-2
