God looks at the motives of our hearts.

"He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men's hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God." 1 Corinthians 4:5 God knows why we do the things we do. He knows whether we are doing something for His glory or for our own selfish gain. The motives of our heart are important. Why do we do the things we do? Is it because we want to be recognized or because we want to bring glory and praise to our Father? The word motive is defined as: "an emotion, desire, need or similar impulse that causes one to act in a particular way." Every good and perfect gift comes from God and He is the One who gives power to make wealth. Are we giving Him credit for this or are we taking all the credit? You may be successful in your business, you may hold a position of power in your church, school or organization. You need to be careful to remember it is God who has placed you where you are.
"All a man's ways seem innocent to him, but motives are weighed by the Lord." Proverbs 16:2 God looks at our hearts my friend. One day we will give and account of ourselves to God.(Romans 14:12) As a believer in Christ, this does not affect our salvation, however, we will receive rewards based on what we have done with Christ. "For the Son of Man is going to come in His Father's glory with His angels, and then He will reward each person according to what He has done." 1 Corinthians 16:27 Jesus tells us the same thing in Revelation, "Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with Me, and I will give to everyone according to what He has done." 22:12 Again, this does not affect our salvation, once you are saved by the blood of Christ, He seals you with His Spirit and you are eternally His, but knowing we will face the judgment seat of Christ should resonate within us. "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad." 2 Corinthians 5:10 We should  no longer live to please ourselves, but for Him who died in our place and was raised again.
Like Paul said in Philippians, "Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." Philippians 3:12-14 He knew that he was not "there" yet, but throughout his life, whatever he went through, he kept his eyes on Jesus. His focus was on the One that mattered and that is our Lord Jesus.
You will have days where you feel like you don't matter or that you aren't doing anything for the kingdom, but know this, "He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." Philippians 1:6 He will NEVER let you go! Find your rest in Him. He has equipped you with everything you need by His Holy Spirit. He knows you better than you know yourself. When you fall, when you sin, confess it before the Lord and He will forgive you and cleanse you from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 He knows your struggles, He knows your insecurities and  your doubts. Let Him have His way with you. Allow Him to fill you with His presence and change you from the inside out. He is your helper, your strength, your comforter, the lover of your soul and your rock! God does not change. He is faithful and true to His word. Ask Him to cleanse your heart, to remove any pride, selfishness, greed, complacency or wrong attitude. Allow Him to mold you into the person He created you to be!
I am praying for all who read this to allow God to change them, to cleanse them and to set them free from any thinking that goes against His word. I am praying God reveal Himself in such a mighty way. I am praying that the eyes of our understanding be opened and that we grow in the knowledge of God and  put Him first above all else. Lord God, You are high and lifted up, and we bow down before You.
