The Lord Almighty is Your Support!
"He reached down from on high and took hold of me; He drew me out of deep waters. He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me. They confronted me in the day of my disaster, but the Lord was my support. He brought me out into a spacious place; He rescued me because He delighted in me (2 Samuel 22:17-20)."
Whatever you are facing in this very moment my friend, God will be your support and your strength. Life is at times hard and circumstances can seem overwhelming at times. You cry out to God to "fix" everything, to make your problems go away, but sometimes, He will calm you in spite of what you are facing. He doesn't take you out of the situation, but He gives you His peace and His strength to endure the difficulty. The problem may still exist, however, in Him, you have the fullness of joy and an overwhelming sense of His presence and His peace. It is a beautiful thing, when we can become content with whatever life brings~no matter what storm, pain, or hardship~ we have an unexplainable joy. "I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content in whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength (Philippians 4:11-13)."
We live in a world where instant gratification abounds. With technology at our fingertips, we can have anything we want at the touch of a button. We don't like waiting and may grow impatient. We at times think we know the answer. In our own pride, we think we know the best solution. In the waiting, the enemy will try to cause you to think God hasn't heard your plea or that He is not going to come to your aid. He will fill your mind with all sorts of options to "fix" your present situation.
We have to be very careful not to get ahead of God and take matters into our own hands. We have to pay close attention to what we allow into our minds whether it is advice from a friend, something we have seen or a book we have read. If it is not lined up with scripture, then we need to toss it. "For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)." Remember my friend, the battle always starts in your mind. You will eventually act on what you are thinking about, what you are meditating on. "The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks. (Luke 6:45)." Each day you will either feed your flesh or feed your spirit. Many may "appear" righteous on the outside by the things they do or say, but inside they may be full of wickedness and hypocrisy. God knows the heart. He knows the motive of why people do what they do. He is more concerned with your inner man, than what you may seem to the world. That being said, when you belong to Christ, His presence will fill you and it will manifest itself on the outside in the way you live your life. Meditating on God's word is an important principle that all believers need to apply daily. If we don't hide His word in our hearts my friend, we will fall. His word is a shield to all who take refuge in it. It is a shield from the fiery darts of satan. It is a shield against taking matters into our own hands. "Every word of God proves true; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him (Proverbs 30:5)." God knows exactly what He is doing. He does not need our help. He is a God of order, not of chaos and confusion. He knows you better than you know yourself and will work your situation out not only for your good, but for the good of others around you and for His glory. Every thing He does is done in love. God is omniscient which means He has complete and unlimited knowledge, understanding and awareness. We look at our life in the present tense with limited knowledge, but God sees not only the present, but the past and the future. "You have searched me, Lord, and You know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; You perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; You are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue, You, Lord know it completely. You hem me in behind and before and you lay Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain (Psalm 139:1-6)."
Oh my friend, how God loves you so! He knows everything about you, everything you have ever done or will do and He loves you the same. He doesn't love you less when you sin and He doesn't love you more when you do good works. He loves because it is part of His character. He is not like man. He will never hurt you. He will never withhold His love from you. He will never leave you. "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:37-39)."
So, my friend rest assured in the storm you may be facing, that God has this and He also has you. He will give you the strength you need to keep walking and He will supply you with His grace to endure until you get to the other side. In the meantime, hold fast to Jesus. He is your Rock. He is your refuge. He is the One who holds it all together. Amen!
