The Great I Am
"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world (Psalm 19:1-4)."
There is no where you can go, that you cannot look around you and see God's handiwork. The beauty of His creation is in the sky, the people and in all of nature. "For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; He is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the Lord made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before Him; strength and joy in His dwelling place (1 Chronicles 16:25-27)."
There is no one like Him. He stands alone and is on His throne. Everything in the earth, the atmosphere and all of heaven belongs to Him. He spoke, and it came to be. He saw everything He had made and it wasn't just good, it was magnificent. He made something from nothing just by the very words He spoke. "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light (Genesis 1:1-3)." He proceeded to create land and the waters, trees and animals and day and night and finally you and me by speaking it all into existence. There is no one that could ever compare to the Lord Almighty. He is life and He holds all things together.
With all of that being said, do you believe my friend that the God who created everything can handle any problem you may have; that He could possibly handle the difficult situations in your life? There is nothing too hard for God! "Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: 'I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me (Jeremiah 32:26-27)?" You and I have a choice. We can look at the natural, all the things coming against us, or we can look with eyes of faith at the One who formed us and created us for His good pleasure and cling to what He says in His word. For He has said, "I will make an everlasting covenant with them; I will never stop doing good to them, and I will inspire them to fear Me, so that they will never turn away from Me. I will rejoice in doing them good and will assuredly plant them in this land with all My heart and soul (Jeremiah 32:40-41)." Faith in God is one that is trusting. It is one that has hope despite the storms that come in this life. It is one that knows God is going to work everything out for good, in His time and in His way. Faith is waiting on God to act on your behalf. It is not getting ahead of Him. It is not taking matters into your own hands. Faith in God believes against all odds. He promises that He will fight your battles (Exodus 14:14). In the meantime, keep your eyes on Him and watch the deliverance He will bring to you.
Sometimes my friend, life is just hard. There are days you feel you cannot take another step. There are days when you may wonder if the trial is ever going to end. Don't give up! Don't grow weary in the fight and don't think for a moment that God has forgotten you. If you ever doubt, let me remind you of what He said in His word: "But Zion said, 'The Lord has forsaken me, the Lord has forgotten me.' 'Can the Lord forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has born? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of My hands, your walls are ever before Me' (Isaiah 49:14-16)."
The word of the Lord is true. The word of the Lord is not a thing of the past. What He says He will do, you can have confidence that He will do it! God is not like man that He would lie. His word is His love letter to you and me. Every word is flawless and it is a shield to those who take refuge in it. "Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Your dominion endures through all generations. The Lord is faithful to all His promises and loving toward all He has made. The Lord upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down. The eyes of all look to You, and You give them their food at the proper time. You open Your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing. The Lord is righteous in all His ways and loving toward all He has made. The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear Him; He hears their cry and saves them (Psalm 145:13-19)."
Friend, I don't know what you are going through at this very moment, but I do know that if you will turn to Jesus and fix your eyes on Him, He will flood your soul with a peace that is unexplainable. When you are filled with Him you will have joy that lasts and has nothing to do with your circumstances. The great I Am is on your side, and if He is for you, who can be against you?Your soul will be content and at rest even during the fiercest of battles. Like Job, you will say, "I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end He will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; I myself will see Him with my own eyes-I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me! (Job 19:25-27)."
