The Greatest Love of All
"You are forgiving and good, O Lord, abounding in love to all who call on You (Psalm 86:5)."
"How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God (1 John 3:1)."
To love someone is to 'cherish or hold dear and to take pleasure in them.' Love is also a 'feeling of strong or constant affection for a person.' Friend, that is the way God feels about you all the time. He never changes. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is love. "If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in Him and he in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God and God in Him (1 John 4:15-16)."
God's love is one with no limits and no conditions. There is nothing you must do to earn it just as there is nothing you can do to make God stop loving you. Period. How absolutely freeing the love of God in Christ is! Think about it. No matter what you have done, and no matter how many times you fall, God loves you with an unfailing love. He isn't some great cosmic force way up in the galaxy somewhere. He isn't like a police officer standing over you with a club and waiting for you to mess up so he can discipline you. He is the lover of your soul.
He is the lifter of your head.
He is the forgiver of your sin.
He is the mighty healer.
He is the restorer of everything that was broken.
He is the mightiest of all.
He breaks chains.
He makes you new.
He opens blind eyes and sets the captive free.
The perfect, spotless Lamb..
He is Lord.
He is the soon and coming King!
Jesus laid aside His glory and majesty to come to earth and die for sinners just like you and me. Why? Because of love. "God so loved the world (you and me)that He gave His one and only Son (the Lord Jesus), that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16)." Notice it's not just that He loved us, but He so loves us! Jesus made a way for us my friend and He did it while we were still in our sin, before we even gave Him a thought. "But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8)." Jesus took every sin of every person that ever lived and nailed it to the cross once and for all so that we could be restored to the Father. He is the way the truth and the life....no one comes to the Father but by Him.
When you realize you are loved and adored by the One true King, you are declared righteous by the blood of Jesus, you are free from the guilt and shame of sin and you are kept by Him until the He comes back for you, it will change the way you live your life. You are free. You don't have to try harder. You no longer seek the approval of others and are not moved by their feelings towards you. You don't have to do anything to earn God's favor because His love for you is based on His character, not on anything you may or may not do. You are precious in His sight! He rejoices over you with singing and delights in you! "The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing (Zephaniah 3:17)."
If you don't know by now, God is for you. He is not against you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. He promises to be with you when you walk through the deepest valley or are on the mountaintop. "But now, this is what the Lord says-He who created you O Jacob, He who formed you O Israel. Fear not for I have redeemed you. I have summoned you by name, you are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you and when you pass through the rivers they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior, I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead. Since you are precious and honored in My sight and because I love you (Isaiah 43:1-4)." Take Him at His word my friend. He is not a man that He should lie.
Plans fail, seasons change, people disappoint and your world may seem as though it is falling apart. But there is one constant you have in this life, and that is Jesus. He will be there through it all. He will love you through it all. He is your hope! He is the peace inside of you when the storms of life are raging. He is the anchor for your soul. He is coming back for His own! Praise God this life is not all there is! One day we will see His sweet face and live with Him forever and ever!
"To Him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by His blood and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve His God and Father-to Him be glory and power forever and ever! Amen. Look He is coming with the clouds and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of Him. So shall it be! Amen. I am the Alpha and the Omega says the Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty (Revelation 1:5-8)."
