Have Your Way Lord
"Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders You have done. The things You have planned for us no one can recount to You; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare (Psalm 40:5)."
Too often, I find myself praying for God's will to be done in my life, then I take matters into my own hands instead of waiting on God. Too many times I act out in my flesh instead of walking in the Spirit. Does this mean I am a failure or that I will never be a vessel God can use? Absolutely not! Praise God that He specializes in helping, healing and restoring us. He knows everything....He knows what we are going to do before we do it. He knows what we are going to speak before it is even a thought. And, God takes everything (all of our choices, good and bad) and works them together for our good and His glory. He just wants us to continually trust Him and continually seek His face. When a righteous man falls, seven times he rises again (Proverbs 24:16). Notice that His word doesn't say if a righteous man falls, but when. The key is not staying down. When you sin, confess it to the Father and He will forgive and restore. This is a promise that we have in Him. 1 John 1:9 tells us that "if we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sin and cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
Our human tendency is to want to help God, or we want to speed up the outcome because we don't like to wait. We want instant gratification. Waiting is not something that most of us like to do. In the Bible, references to waiting on God is used about 106 times. Waiting on God is showing that we trust Him and His perfect timing. Waiting on God is trusting His sovereignty and knowing that He will work it out. In waiting, we learn to persevere, we learn patience and we learn it is not about us and our schedule. To wait in the sense of waiting on the Lord is the Hebrew qavah. Qavah means to bind together, to look patiently and to hope, expect and look eagerly (Bible.org). Waiting does not mean we are passive. No, while we wait with eager expectation, we set our eyes on the Lord and let Him work in and through us. If we trust God and in His faithfulness and goodness, then we understand that He has it under control and is always working on our behalf and are confident He will do it. "The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the person who seeks Him (Lamentations 3:25)."
We must come boldly to the throne of His grace and ask anything according to His will. He will always supply grace to help us in our time of need. Asking according to God's will is lining our desires up with His word. We must always keep God's character in mind. He is faithful, loving, just, perfect, holy, true, righteous, forgiving, patient and good. As you meditate on His character, you know that whatever plans God has for you are always good.
My heart's desire is for my Lord to have His way in my life. Whatever that may be, wherever that may lead me because ultimately, the only thing that matters is my relationship with my Father and living a life pleasing to Him. When we who are believers stand before Him at the judgment seat of Christ, it is going to be about what we have done with the life that He gave us. Did we use it for His glory or for our own? Now let me make it clear, we are not saved by good works, we are saved only by the blood of Christ, however, at the judgment seat, we will stand accountable for the things we have done. "You then, why do you judge your brother? For we will all stand before God's judgment seat. It is written, as surely as I live says the Lord, every knee will bow before Me; every tongue will confess to God. So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God (Romans 14:10-12)."
"Like a rushing wind
Jesus breathe within
Lord have your way
Lord have your way in me
like a mighty storm
stir within my soul
Lord have your way
Lord have your way in me"
