Lord I Need You

"Hear my prayer O Lord God Almighty; listen to me, O God of Jacob. Look upon our shield O God, look with favor on Your anointed one." Psalm 84:8-9
The desire of my heart is to know the Lord more and more. My prayer is for Him to reveal Himself to me in ways that I have never known. I am not satisfied with where I am at. Now I don't mean I am not satisfied with my Lord and all He has done, I just want to grow deeper in my relationship with Him.
As believers, we should all desire to grow in our Lord until the day we take our last breath. This is a process-a lifelong process, otherwise known as transformation. God continues to change us to make us more like Him. He changes our desires. He changes our habits. He changes the words that come out of our mouths and He changes our lives. "And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit (2 Corinthians 3:18)."
You see, this life is not all there is, praise God! The life we live now is only for a moment. We need to make the most of the time we have. It's not about us my friend, it is about God. Everything we do for His kingdom and His glory is what counts. We will stand before the Lord Jesus one day. "It is written: As surely as I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God. So then, each of us will give an account of Himself to God (Romans 14:11-12)." The question each one of us should ask is, would the Lord say to us on that day, 'Well done My good and faithful servant?' Do we live a life that pleases Him? Do we love others? Do we serve and meet the needs of others? Do our words build others up? Do we tell others about the One who saved our life? Bottom line...do our lives match up with what we say we believe? "What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, 'Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,' but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead (James 2:14-17)."
So, how then, do we live a life that would please God? On our own, this would be impossible, but we have the power of the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us; the same magnificent power that raised Christ from the dead. "But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who lives in you (Romans 8:10-11)." Every day we have choices that we make. We will either choose to live in the flesh or live in the Spirit. As John said, "He must become greater, I must become less (John 3:30)." We need God every minute of every day. He is the reason we are breathing right now. He is the one who holds all things together. "He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together (Colossians 1:17)."
I am praying now for everyone who reads this, including me, that God helps each of us to live a life worthy of the calling. I pray we will walk in the Spirit and live a life that points others to Jesus. Be blessed and keep your eyes on Him!

  1. This is beautiful and it says exactly how I feel. I retired from a secular job because everyday I would leave there feeling drained from all the many rude, miserable and disappointed people I had to deal with on a daily basis. I just felt it was time for me to be where I wanted to be and that was closer to God. At my age, I want to know the more deeper things of Christ. My daily prayer is that I will be a blessing to someone and that nothing I do will disappoint God. I want to have more time to help those who are confused, hurting, and have lost their hope. I want to be that person to embrace, encourage and empower someone for God's purpose. I pray that God will continue to hear my plea and begin opening the doors that will allow me to feel that with God's help, I have made a difference in someone's life. I pray that with everything I do and say, people will see God's good works and Glorify Him.
