Do you know the Truth?

Jesus said, "If you hold to My teaching, you are really My disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free (John 8:31-32)."
Truth is Jesus. Truth is the living Word of God. The question is, do you believe this truth? Does your life show that you believe this truth? Jesus clearly said, if you hold or cling to His teaching, then you are truly His disciple. Apart from Jesus, truth would not exist. He is the One who holds all things together.
Many people want to make truth whatever they believe, not basing it on God's word, but on something they have heard, seen or read. This has happened throughout history. In Judges 21:25, we read, "In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as he saw fit." Do you see what is wrong here? It is what is happening today. Everyone thinks they are right in their own eyes and does what "they" think is right...Proverbs tells us, "Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him." 26:12 We should take heed to those words.
I read the other day where a famous singer (who claims to be a Christian) is now supporting gay marriage. I am by no means judging her, but this goes against what God stands for and it is dead wrong. He created male and female to marry and have children, not two people of the same sex. "But for Adam no suitable helper was found. So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man's ribs and closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib He had taken out of the man, and He brought her to the man (Genesis 2:20-22)."
I am not just singling out gay people-sin is sin period, but I wanted to give that example because the media, music and television are all heading in the direction of supporting gay people. Yes, we should love them as Christ loves us, but we do not have to condone their behavior and definitely do not support it. People everywhere are being deceived and are believing the lie that "people are born that way." No my friend, they are not born that way! God does not make mistakes and a perfect God does not create someone gay. This is a behavior that is learned. People make the choice to be that way, but it is certainly not God's doings. In fact, when people continue to habitually live in a certain lifestyle which contradicts God's word, He will eventually give them over to their sinful desires. "For although they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to Him, but in their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles. Therefore God fave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator-who is forever praised. Amen! (Romans 1:21-25)" We must remember, that although God is a God of love, He is also a God of justice and wrath. Believing God means believing every attribute of Him so plainly stated in His Word. As a follower of Christ, if we don't stand up for what is right, then who will?
Once saved, God gives you the Helper~the promised Holy Spirit, who will guide you into all truth (John 16:13). He lives within you. He convicts you of your sin and continually teaches and directs you, but you must stay in constant communion with the Lord. He speaks in a still, small voice and if you are distracted with the things of this life or your own agenda, you will miss hearing His voice.
I cannot stress this enough, but you must stay grounded in the Word of God. Everything else in this world goes against God. That is why God tells us "do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. for everything in the world-the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes, and the boasting of what he has and does-comes not from the Father, but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever (1 John 2:15-17)."
If you do not stay grounded in the Word of God, you will eventually fall back into sin. This does not happen overnight. Like the song says, it is a "slow fade." Old habits start creeping in. Old ways of thinking start coming back. You stop going to church like you once did. You begin to think things that go against the Word of God are not so bad. Your passion for the Lord begins to dwindle.
"Above all else, guard your heart! (Proverbs 4:23)" Like King David cried out in the Psalms, we need to ask God to search our hearts, to test us and know our anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in us and to lead us in the way everlasting (139:23-24). The truth of God's Word will cut through every wrong thought, every deceptive way and attitude within us. "Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account (Hebrews 4:12-13)."
Right now is the time to examine yourself to see whether or not you are in the faith. Read the following verses and ask God to speak to you...."This is the message we have heard from Him and declare it to you: God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin (1 John 1:5-7)."
God's Word is truth! God's Word is liberating! There is power in Him and in His Word. There is nothing you have done or ever will do that the blood of Jesus will not cover. He died once for all~for whoever will come to Him and believe that He is the Son of the Living God!
Jesus answered, "I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me (John 14:6)."
