Jesus Paid It All!

"Then His disciples said to each other, 'Could someone have brought Him food?' "My food, Jesus said, is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to finish His work." (John 4:33-34)
Jesus had one purpose, and this purpose was to die for the sin of the world. "He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours, but also for the sins of the whole world." (1 John 2:2) Jesus did something that you or I could not do on our own. He was the perfect, spotless Lamb that was sacrificed in order that you and I might have life eternal. Our sin placed a barrier between us and God. No amount of good works, charitable acts or contributions could ever be enough for a Holy and Righteous God. We needed a perfect Savior to take our place. You see, we do not get what we deserve. If that was the case, we would all go to hell. But God, so rich in mercy and grace had a plan. This plan was to send His One and Only Son to earth for the sole purpose of dying on the cross so that through Him we might live. "For God so loved the world that He gave His One and Only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him." (John 3:16-17) Notice the emphasis on the words "so" and "whoever." It isn't just that God loved us, but He so loved us. Jesus died once and for all, but not everyone loves Him in return. "Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to His voice, and hold fast to Him." (Deuteronomy 30:19-20) We have a choice to make. Jesus has already done the work. There is nothing left to do. The question is, do you believe that Jesus is who He says He is? The word "believe" expressed in John 3:16 means to put your life upon. It isn't enough to give lip service to God or others and say that you believe with merely head knowledge. Has this truth penetrated your heart? Have you been transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit?      When God reaches down and grabs hold of your heart, there is real and lasting change. It is not something that you do, rather, this is our mighty and awesome God changing you by the power of His Spirit.  He takes out your heart of stone and gives you a heart of flesh. He then places His Spirit within you and He teaches you to follow His decrees. (Ezekiel 36:26-27) Friend, it is about a relationship with our Lord Jesus. It is not about keeping rules and regulations and trying to do enough to please God. God loves you the same today, yesterday and forevermore. Faith in Christ is based solely on Jesus and what He did. "He has freed us from our sins by His blood." (Revelation 1:5) There is freedom and liberty in Christ. We are free to be who He made us to be. We are free from bondage. Free from old ways of thinking. Free from destructive habits and free from trying to be good enough or do enough good works to give us right standing with God. As a follower of Christ, God has washed away all your sin and remembers it no more. In Christ, you are the righteousness of Christ. "God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him, we might become the righteousness of God." (2 Corinthians 5:21)
Jesus, my friend, paid it all by His shed blood. Nothing more, nothing less. He is the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Him. (John 14:6) In Christ, you have all you need both now and to eternity. He is the bread of life. Taste and see that He is good.
I am praying right now, for anyone who does not know Jesus as Lord and Savior. I am praying that He would draw you to Himself and that you would cry out to Him today and tell Him how much  you need Him and ask Him to forgive you of all your sin. Then you will say along with all the saints, "I was blind, but now I see." (John 9:25)
