No Weapon Formed Against You Will Prosper!
"And it is I who have created the destroyer to work havoc: no weapon formed against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from Me. Declares the Lord." Isaiah 54:16-17
We have an enemy of our souls who wants nothing more to destroy us and our testimony. He is a liar and the father of lies. But God has promised us that no weapon formed against us will prevail! I know there are days when it seems everything is coming against you. How do you think Daniel must have felt when he was thrown into the lion's den? He could have let his circumstances cloud his view of God, but instead, He chose to believe that God could and would deliver him from the mouths of the lions. Think about Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego for a moment. They were told by King Nebuchadnezzar that if they did not worship the image he made, they would be thrown into the fiery furnace. Right there, they had a choice to make; they would either submit to Nebuchadnezzar or believe God would rescue them. Their response was total faith in God. They replied, "If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and He will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if He does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up." Daniel 3:17-18 These three men knew without a doubt that God was able. Their faith was unwaivering. Friend, that is the kind of faith that moves mountains! There was nothing special about any of these men. They were not any different than you or me. God is looking for men and women who are obedient to Him and to love Him above all else.
When difficult circumstances come our way, whether it be our health, family or finances, we must choose to focus on God, not the circumstance. When we focus on God and His goodness, our problems don't necessarily go away, but they do fade in light of His glorious presence. When we focus on Him, our perspective changes and He fills us with His peace that passes all human understanding. God pours out His grace on us so that we can go through any and every trial.
It is especially important to know the character of God. He is faithful. He is true. He is holy. He is just. He is love. He is full of mercy. He is unchanging-the same yesterday, today and forever. He is forgiving. He is eternal. His love will never fail and His love endures forever. (Psalm 143:8) You may be asking why is it important to know God's character? When we know Him, we know that everything He does, He does in love and always for our good. We know that if He was faithful in the past, He will be faithful again. We know that since He is not a man that He could lie, we can depend on Him and that what He says will come to pass. (Numbers 23:19) When we go through trials, we can rest in Him and the truth of His word. Even though our circumstances may be screaming "defeat" or "it's over," we know, that God always has the final say and that nothing is over, until He says it is over. "God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, those who are the called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28 Notice this says that God works "all" things together for our good. "All" means He works the good and the bad things together for our good.
I know that life is hard sometimes, Jesus even promises us that we will have trouble, but to take heart, because He has overcome the world." John 16:33 We already have the victory in Christ! He nailed our sin and shame to the cross over 2,000 years ago. It was by His blood, and only by His blood, that we can now have a relationship with God. In Him, there is freedom, forgiveness and a love that never fails. He will walk with you through everything that you go through in this life. Remember my friend, this world is not our home. It is right for us as followers of Christ, to not be content here on earth. We are just here temporarily. Jesus is preparing a place for us-a place more beautiful than we could ever imagine and one day He is going to come back and take us to be with Him forever. I am convinced that every problem that we are going through now will be nothing in light of the beauty of our King! Hold on to the hope you have that is in Christ Jesus.
"No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and His servants will serve Him. They will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever. The angel said to me, these words are trustworthy and true. The Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, sent His angel to show His servants the things that must soon take place." Revelation 22:3-6
