Despite the Worst Circumstances, God is ALWAYS Good!

"For His lovingkindness is great toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord is everlasting. Praise the Lord!" Psalm 117:2
"O, Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; For His lovingkindness is everlasting." 1 Chronicles 16:34
Have you ever found yourself asking God why? Why would You allow this to happen? If you have lived on this earth long enough, chances are, you have asked these questions. We live in a fallen world where sin and lawlessness abound. You do not have to look far to see this. It is on our televisions, at the movie theaters, the internet and throughout the world. There are horrific tragedies that occur daily. Tragedies in the world and tragedies within our own family. We often times do not understand and cannot make sense of the horrific events that happen. We may never know the answer to our 'why?'
Understand my friend that God always has a plan and a purpose. He is a God of order. He is sovereign, or in other words, He has supreme power or authority over all. Everything He does or allows, He does in love and it is always for the good of His children. "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified." Romans 8:28-30 Notice that this doesn't say in 'some' things or in only the 'good' things, but in all things. This means the good and the bad. He has a greater purpose in mind, and this purpose is to make each of us more like His Son. Think for a moment about your life. When did  you cry out to God? Was it when everything was going well in your life? More than likely, the answer to this question is no. It was when you were going through a trial and you did not see any way of going through it on your own. It was when you came to the end of yourself that you realized you needed God! It is during the darkest times in our life that God can and will show us just how faithful and merciful He is. It is then that we can learn the peace that passes all human understanding. God tells us in His word that we are not to "be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present our requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7
God will give us beauty for ashes! "To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He might be glorified." Isaiah 61:3 When you go through a difficult situation, as you lift your eyes to God and stay fixed on Him, He will take your burdens and strengthen you through His mighty power. As others who do not know Christ watch your life, they will see and know that there is something different about you. They may even ask you how you can have the joy you have in the midst of your situation? The hope we have is anchored in Christ and in Him alone and our purpose is to always bring Him glory!
We must always remember the character of our Lord no matter what we are facing. He is gracious, loving, kind, forgiving, compassionate, slow to anger, abounding in love, merciful, good, trustworthy, true, majestic, holy, righteous, our stronghold, our shelter, just, great and He is love. God cannot go against His character and He is not a man that He could lie or change His mind. (Numbers 23:19) Not some but all of the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful, for those who keep the demands of His covenant. (Psalm 25:10)
When I learned of the devastation recently in Oklahoma and all the lives that were lost, my heart broke. I do not have the answers, nor do I know why God allowed it to happen, however, I do know that God will bring good out of this tragedy. There may be thousands of people that call on the name of the Lord like never before because of this horrific event. There may now be thousands that will know Jesus as Savior and Lord! God's word is truth, and He is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. (Psalm 34:18) In the day of trouble (God) will keep me safe in His dwelling; He will hide me in the shelter of His tabernacle and set me high upon a rock. (Psalm 27:5)
God loves you so very much. He always has your best in mind. His ways are not our ways. What we think should happen is not always best. Trust that God knows my friend. He sees the end from the beginning. Hold on to the hope you have that is in Christ Jesus. He has promised that He will NEVER leave you, nor forsake you. (Hebrews 13:9, Joshua 1:5)
"Let them give thanks to the Lord for His unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for men, for He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. Some sat in darkness and the deepest gloom, prisoners suffering in iron chains, for they had rebelled against the words of God and despised the counsel of the Most High. So He subjected them to bitter labor; they stumbled and there was no one to help. Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress. He brought them out of darkness and the deepest gloom and broke away their chains. Let them give thanks to the Lord for His unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for men, for He breaks down gates of bronze and cuts through bars of iron." Psalm 107:8-16
I am praying today you know the comfort that only our Lord can give. Praying He will cover you with His love and peace and give you joy unspeakable in the midst of whatever you are facing today. I am praying that you know the love of our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. Our Lord is faithful to all His promises! (Psalm 145:13) All of His promises are for YOU! May He encourage your heart today and open the eyes of your understanding to know Him more.
