The Empty Tomb
"On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightening stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here, He has risen! Remember how He told you, while He was still with you in Galilee, the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again. Luke 24:1-7
What a wonderful truth and promise for us to hold on to! Today we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Because He lives, we too, will also live! Jesus had fulfilled the mission of the Father over 2,000 years ago, just like God promised. When Jesus died on the cross, He said the words, "it is finished." What does that mean for you and me? It means that sin no longer has power over us. It means that through Jesus, we are free. It means that the curse of sin has been broken once and for all. Jesus took all of our sin and shame and nailed it to the cross on that day.
Oh, the love that the Father has for us, that He would send His One and Only Son to die a horrific death in our place. On our own, there is nothing that we can do to earn this gift. We could never be good enough, we could never "do" enough good works to get into heaven on our own. We needed a sacrifice that was perfect and sinless-we have that in Jesus! You may feel that you don't deserve this gift of love. Friend, none of us deserve it, but God, so rich in mercy did this because He so loves the world. "You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:6-8
This gift of love is for all who will receive. Jesus does not force His way in. No, He waits for us to invite Him. "Here I am! I stand at the door(of your heart) and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him and he with Me." Revelation 3:20 All you need to do is say, yes Lord, I believe that You are who You say You are. I believe that You died on the cross for my sin. I believe that You are the Son of God and You are Lord of all. Forgive me for my sin, today I turn from that sin and run to You. Jesus, You are Lord! When you do this, He places His Spirit in you and gives you life. His Spirit testifies with our spirit that we are His children. Romans 8:16 You are now free from condemnation. His Spirit of life has set you free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:1-2 Jesus promises that He will not leave us as orphans. He will come again for us one glorious day and take us to the place He is preparing for us where we will rule and reign with Him for ever and ever. John 14:1-4; 14:18
"Blessed are they whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will never count against him." Romans 4:7-8 In Jesus, we are set free. We are made new! "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" 2 Corinthians 5:17
Praying for all who read this to accept God's most precious gift of love, that is Jesus! King of kings and Lord of lords. Thank you Father, for loving us like you do. Thank You for not giving up on us. Thank You for Your grace and Your mercy.
Jesus has risen! He is seated at the right hand of God the Father and will one day come for His own. Praise Him!
"Praise the Lord. Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in His mighty heavens. Praise Him for His acts of power; praise Him for His surpassing greatness. Praise Him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise Him with the harp and lyre, praise Him with tambourine and dancing, praise Him with the strings and flute, praise Him with the clash of cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord." Psalm 150:1-6
