Come Back to the Lord!

"Blessed is he whose transgressions (willful sin) are forgiven, whose sins are covered (by the blood of Jesus). Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord does not count against him and in whose spirit is no deceit. When I kept silent (when I kept my sin inside and tried to hide it), my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long.  For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of the summer. (This refers to the one who is a child of God living in sin-he is miserable and does not have peace).
Then I acknowledged my sin to You and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, 'I will confess my transgressions (willful or rebellious sin) to the Lord' and You forgave the guilt of my sin." Psalm 32:1-5
These verses reflect a man who tried to cover up his sin without confessing it to the Lord. During that time, he was miserable and his fellowship with God was broken because of his unconfessed sin. Then as soon as he acknowledged his sin before God or came into agreement with God that what he had done was sin and repented, God immediately forgave him. We can be a child of God and have times of broken fellowship with Him. Our human nature is to run from God, to run from the church and to run from godly counsel, however, this is the time that you need to run to the arms of Jesus. He is your High Priest who stands ready to welcome you back into fellowship and give you the joy of your salvation. He will give you back your peace. When Jesus came and completed the work on the cross, He fulfilled a promise by God and there is nothing that can change that. Jesus stands beside the right hand of His Father-His priesthood is permanent and "therefore He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them. Jesus sacrificed for our sins once and for all when He offered Himself." Hebrews 7:25-27
There will be times in your walk with God that you sin. This does not mean that you are not a believer-we are still human and fall short. We will not be made perfect until Jesus comes for us. satan will try to come in and tell you all kinds of lies: that you are worthless, that you can never have fellowship with God, that you are a hypocrite or that you can never be a Christian. These are all lies. satan is a liar and the father of lies. (John 8:44) It is very important that you take a stand against these thoughts and get into God's word. His word tells us that if we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sin and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9) Notice this verse does not say "some" unrighteousness, but all unrighteousness. Remember that when you give your life to Christ, He seals you with His promised Holy Spirit who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession-to the praise of His glory. (Ephesians 1:13-14). The Greek word for seal is sphragizo, which means a stamp for security, ownership or preservation. Paul also talks about this seal of the Holy Spirit in 2 Corinthians. "He (Christ) anointed us, set His seal of ownership on us, and put His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come." 1:21-22
God is not a man that He should lie, (Numbers 23:19) therefore, we can rest in what He says will come to pass.
When you have sinned against God, as a believer, you will experience the Holy Spirit's conviction. He will make you uncomfortable and you will not have peace  until the sin is confessed. Yes, God already knows what you have done and He knew beforehand what you were going to do, but our confession of our sin to God is agreeing with Him that it was wrong, and then turning from it (repenting). Your relationship with God is the most important relationship you will ever have. He longs for intimacy with you and me, but will not hear our prayers if there is sin in our hearts (Psalm 66:17-18), so confess it to him now and your relationship will once again be restored! He will give you the joy of your salvation. His love for you is unfailing and never changes. He is your help. "Surely God is my help; the Lord is the One who sustains me." Psalm 54:4
Father I pray right now for those reading this, that You will show them how very much You love them and that there is nothing they can do to change that. Your love is everlasting! I pray for the one who has gotten away from You, that Your love will draw them back right now. Make Your presence known to them Lord and help them to walk with You.
