The Word of God
"Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit." 2 Peter 1:20-21 It is imperative that we believe that God's word is Truth and that it is God-given, God-breathed and God-protected. His word is without error! It isn't just that some of the Bible is true, or the scriptures we like to hand-pick out of the Bible, but the entire Bible is true. "The word of the Lord is flawless." 2 Samuel 22:31 "Every word of God is flawless." Proverbs 30:5
God's word is powerful! God spoke and the world came to be. Jesus, who is God in the flesh spoke the word to satan after fasting in the desert for forty days and forty nights and satan had to flee. James tells us this in chapter 4 verse 7, "resist the devil and he will flee." It does not say he might flee, but that he WILL flee. As followers of Christ, we have His word-this awesome word is "God-breathed" (2 Timothy 3:16)and is a guide to everything we need in life whether it is concerning marriage, politics, finance, love, immorality or relationships.
You have to know His word and hide it in your heart. Meditate on it daily, even if just for five minutes each morning. His word is for you and for me....if you want to grow closer to God and want to hear His voice, get into His word. It is His love letter to you and me. You will not be able to stand if you don't know God's word. satan wants to steal, kill and destroy you! He knows his time is short. When I first became a Christ follower, the first material I was lead to read dealt with spiritual warfare. The Lord knew exactly what I needed. Up until that time in my life, I never really knew a battle existed, but I soon learned how to put my armor on. One of the most important pieces of armor we have is the Word of God. Next, I wanted to share with you an excerpt from one of the books I read early on in my walk with the Lord. satan is a master deceiver and although he cannot read our minds, he can put thoughts there. He knows that if we continue to entertain wrong thoughts, they will eventually give way to sin. The battle always begins in the mind. "What happens when ungodly thoughts go unchecked? A thought can become an action, which repeated enough becomes a habit which eventually becomes a base of oppression for the enemy, what I will call a stronghold. satan wants to ensnare Christians because when God's children are caught in sin, God has to discipline us. A child of God who is involved in sin is not ready to be used of God. Can you see then why satan moves as he does?" ('Lord, Is It Warfare?' Kay Arthur) So, my dear friend, you must control your thoughts and what you let go in your mind as well as what you watch on tv or at the movies. Everything you see or watch either feeds your spirit or feeds your flesh. "The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have the divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God and we take captive every thought and make it obedient to Christ." 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 In Christ, we have the power by His Holy Spirit to think on things that are true, lovely and good. You can see why it is so important to know God's word and stand for what He stands for. "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-His good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:2 God will show you as you dig into His word. He will speak to your heart as you read. His word is "living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." Hebrews 4:12
I am praying that each of you reading this will dive into God's word and see for yourself how alive it is! I am praying that you know beyond any doubt that you belong to Him. I pray blessing and peace for you and your family. I am praying that you have such a desire to know Him more. He loves you with an everlasting love.
