Growing In Christ

I don't know about you, but I am not satisfied with what I know about my Lord. My heart's desire is to know Him more and more the longer I live. Oh, yes, I am completely satisfied in Him, for nothing can satisfy like my Jesus, but I want to continue to grow in Him until the day He takes me home. I believe that God places this desire in us...there is a yearning to know more about our Creator and have Him make us more like His Son.This is a process and as followers of Christ, we should be in a continual growth state. "And this is my prayer that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ-to the glory and praise of God." Philippians 1:9-11
In Revelation we read, "and you have persevered and have patience, and have labored for My name's sake and have not become weary." 2:3 Paul also talks about persevering as he tells us to stand fast in the Lord (Philippians 4:1) and encourages us to "press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me." (Philippians 3:12) As a follower of Christ, the moment we are saved, that is when the journey begins. Some people may think once they are saved, that is it, but friend, that is just the beginning! If the only goal was for us to go to heaven, God would call us home immediately after we are saved, but you and I are still here on earth for a reason-and that reason is to shine brightly for God and give Him glory with our life. You may be the only Jesus someone encounters. How are you living your life? Are you living in such a way that the world would see and wonder what is different about you or wonder how you could have peace and joy in the midst of your difficult circumstances? Do others see Jesus in you? When I stand before Christ one day, I want to hear Him say, "well done, my good and faithful servant!" I don't want to be ashamed at His appearing. Now if you are truly His, you are sealed with His Spirit and will spend eternity with Him, however, we will give an account of every deed and word we have spoken at the judgment seat of Christ. I pray as the Psalmist did for the Lord to set a guard over my mouth and keep watch over the door of my lips. We will fall short at times because although we are redeemed, we still have the sin nature within us. Thanks be to God, that when we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. When God looks at His child, He sees them through the blood of Christ. We have the righteousness of Christ and no longer live under the burden of sin and shame.
Today, I encourage you to walk in the life to which you have been called. You are set apart, you are chosen and you are His beloved! Jesus came so that we may have life and have it more abundantly. That life is right now. God is for you! He will equip you for everything that He asks you to do. Our responsiblity is to be obedient to Him and He will take care of all the details.
"For the Lord your God delights in you. And your land shall be married. For as a young man marries a virgin, so shall your sons marry you; And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, So shall your God rejoice over you."
