There Is Coming A Day-A Glorious Day!

"Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, 'Now the dwelling of God is with men, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death, or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.' He who was seated on the throne said, 'I am making everything new!' Then He said, 'Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true' (Revelation 21:1-5)."
This my friend, is the hope that everyone who believes-who puts their trust in the Lord Jesus Christ has. The life we now live on earth is really just a moment in comparison with eternity. You and I will experience much heartache, sickness and loss during our lifetime because we live in a fallen world.
But God's original design was for us to dwell with Him in a beautiful world where there was no sin. When He created the heavens, the earth, the seas, the stars, the sky, light and darkness, and finally man, He saw all that He had made and "it was very good (Genesis 1:31)." It remained good until the serpent deceived Eve, enticing her to eat from the one tree God commanded her and Adam not to eat from because if they did "they would surely die (Genesis 2:17)." With that first bite of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, sin entered into the world and with it, came death, disease and pain and we have suffered the consequences ever since that day.
God is omniscient, or in other words, He has complete knowledge and understanding. Therefore, He knew what would occur in the Garden of Eden and He already had a plan of redemption set in motion. You may have asked the question at one time or another, why would God create satan? I have asked that question too. This is part of the mystery of God. We won't have answers to a lot of our questions until we get to heaven. Initially though, satan, like the other angels God created, were made to glorify and worship God. Satan was at that time "the model of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty." He was "anointed as a guardian cherub" and blameless in his ways from the day he was created, that is until wickedness was found in him (Ezekiel 28:12-15). He became filled with pride and he wanted (and still wants) to exalt himself above God (Isaiah 14:12-15). It was because of this, God cast satan and many other angels out of heaven and down to earth. satan is a liar and the father of lies. He comes only to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10) and will not stop until he is eventually thrown into the lake of fire forever (Revelation 20:10).
Know this my friend, satan is a defeated foe because of the cross! "When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and stood opposed to us; He took it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross (Colossians 2:13-15)."
Much of the suffering and heartache we have on earth is because of satan, but also because we live in a fallen world and by our very nature, we are sinful and make wrong choices. But there is coming a day, where we as Christ followers will no longer suffer, we will not be sad, there will be no more sin, no more death and most of all, we will be in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ forever. "No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and His servants will serve Him. They will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever (Revelation 22:3-5)." Hallelujah to the Lamb!
And I am certain that all the suffering we endure on earth, will be nothing in comparison to seeing the One who died for us and then ruling and reigning with Him for all eternity! Keep your eyes on Jesus my friend. Keep trusting, keep believing and remember this life is not all there is! One day, it will all be worth it.
"To Him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by His blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve His God and Father-to Him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen (Revelation 1:5-6)."
