The Lord Jesus Moves Mountains!

"Early in the morning, as He was on His way back to the city, He was hungry. Seeing a fig tree by the road, He went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then He said to it, 'May you never bear fruit again!' Immediately the tree withered. When the disciples saw this, they were amazed. How did the fig tree wither so quickly? they asked. Jesus replied, 'I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, Go, throw yourself into the sea, and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer (Matthew 21:16-22)."
We all have mountains, or rather difficult, seemingly impossible situations in our lives. It could be the lack of a job, a wayward child, a dead relationship or a sickness. When we are at this point in our lives, we have a choice to make. We can either stand on the word of God and believe His promises, or we can live in defeat and think the situation will never get any better. No matter what stage you are in your life, you will face a difficulty, a tragedy or heartbreak. None of us are immune to suffering. We live in a fallen world filled with sin and darkness. It has been this way since Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden.
You are in one of three places. You have just come out of the storm, are going through the storm or are getting ready to go through a storm. Now, I am not telling you this to cause you to worry or lose hope. It is just reality. In fact, Jesus promised His followers "I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world (John 16:33)." Notice though, right before He tells the disciples they will have trouble, but in Him, they may have peace!
What a reassuring promise! No matter what heartaches, losses, sickness, adversity or sadness we face in this life, we can experience the peace of Christ. This is the peace not as the world gives. It is a peace that passes all human comprehension. It is a peace that you have because you know one day all wrongs will be made right. It is a peace you have because your hope is in Christ, not people or things of this world. "Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet My unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor My covenant of peace be removed, says the Lord who has compassion on you (Isaiah 54:10)."
What mountain are you facing today? Whatever it is, however difficult the road may be right now, know and believe that as a follower of Christ, God is working all things together for your good and His glory. He is using your present adversity to make you more like Jesus! And honestly, if Christ lives in you, isn't that what you want? To be more and more like Him? Yes it can be painful, yes it can hurt, yes it can be heart-breaking, but if the end result is so that you and I can be more like Christ, share in His glory and point others to Him in the midst of all the pain, isn't it worth it? Every tear you cry, every heartfelt prayer you pray, God is there. He has gone before you. His plan for you is good! This is so important to remember as you go through the valley.
God does not change. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Every word that comes out of His mouth is true and He will fulfill every promise He has made! Because He is good, because He is loving, because He is true, because He is righteous, because He is holy and because He is the God of the impossible, you can trust Him with every single detail of your life! "As for God, His way is perfect; The Lord's word is flawless; He is a shields all who take refuge in Him (2 Samuel :)."
When you face a seemingly impossible situation, instead of striving and worrying about how you are going to fix it, give the situation to God and trust that He will work it out for you according to His will! Have faith and don't doubt...trust that God will do it and He will do it for you! Faith is believing against all odds, when you cannot see anything happening in the natural, that God will do as He has promised! "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible (Hebrews 11:1-3)." Faith is having complete confidence in God and in His word.
Today, start praying bold prayers. Prayers that are so bold that the only possible solution could come from God Himself. Wait for Him to act. Don't rush ahead of Him and take matters into your own hands. He wants to show you just how mighty and powerful He is! He is the God of the impossible. "Ah, Sovereign Lord, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you (Jeremiah 32:17)." In a split second, He can turn everything around in your favor. He can give you the years back the locusts have eaten (Joel 2:25). He will do it. The question is, do you believe this?
