Seek His Face

"Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope come from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God, He is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge (Psalm 62:5-8)."
You may find yourself in a desperate situation. One where humanly speaking, there is no way. It will take nothing short of a miracle. It will take God to act on your behalf and answer your plea. A plea you may have had for days, months or even years. Yet, you are still waiting, still hoping, still longing to see the deliverance that only God can do. What if in your desperation, God is showing you that He is enough? What if in your desperation, He is teaching you to seek Him and not what He can do or how He can provide? As David, led by the Spirit said, "find rest O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken,"  he must have known what it meant to be in a desperate situation. Instead of trying to manipulate the circumstances or "fix" them on his own, he turned to the Lord and poured his heart out to Him. He knew and trusted God. He knew that no matter what came his way, whatever trial, whatever storm, as long as he had the Lord, he could not be shaken.
What an important thing for us to remember my friend as followers of Christ. In this cold, dark world filled with evil, a world where sin abounds, a world that has turned from the living God, we have an a hope that can never be shaken. We have the Spirit of God living inside of us. Because of this we have peace in the midst of chaos. We have light that shines through all the darkness. We have an eternal home in heaven waiting for us. We have joy in the midst of pain and we have new life.
Sometimes in the waiting, you may find yourself asking God why haven't you come to my rescue? Why haven't you answered my prayer or why haven't you healed me? You see, none of us like to wait. We want the answer now. We want God to make the problem go away instantly. God may choose to answer immediately at times, but other times, in His foreknowledge, He chooses to wait. God is perfect and just in all of His ways. "He is the Rock; His deeds are perfect. Everything He does is just and fair. He is a faithful God who does no wrong; how just and upright is He (Deuteronomy 32:4)." He knows what is best for you, me and everyone involved. He formed us and knows us better than we know ourselves. My friend, you and I have a very limited view. We only know what we see right now. But God, He sees the end from the beginning. "I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, 'My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please' (Isaiah 46:10)." Let your heart be at rest, God is faithful. He is true to His word. He is not a man that He should lie. He can be trusted.
When your prayers go unanswered, or it seems as though God is silent, maybe He is teaching you to seek Him~just Him, not what He can do for you. Maybe He is trying to show you that He is enough; to come to the place where you say, 'it is okay Lord if you say no because as long as I have You, I have everything!'
When the storms of life are raging all around you, when your prayers go unanswered, when your heart is breaking, when you are sick or when you feel defeated, cry out to Jesus. He is already there. He will come to your rescue. He will heal your broken heart. He will fill every empty place in your heart. He will take your ashes and give you beauty. "The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion-to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor (Isaiah 61:1-3)."
Hold on my friend to Jesus, your Rock, your refuge and your salvation. His love is better than life. He is enough!
