The Lord's Love is Unfailing!
"For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations." Psalm 100:5
God is always good and always loving. Sometimes when we go through difficult circumstances, we tend to think that God is unfair or that He is not good. We may find ourselves asking the question, 'why would a good God allow this to happen?' While I don't know the answer to that question, I do know that even in the most difficult situation, God is good. We may not always understand the things that happen in this life, but we need to understand that all of God's ways are good and He is full of grace and compassion. We live in a fallen world where sin abounds. Not only that, but our enemy, the devil prowls around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). He will stop at nothing to get you to take your eyes off of Jesus. He will lie to you and tell you that God doesn't really love you. He will try to create doubt in your mind. He will try to rob you of your joy and peace because he knows his time is short (Revelation 12:12). God tells us in His word to take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). What does this mean? We are to take any thought we have and if it does not line up with God's word, we need to cast it down or throw it out. Don't entertain it~let it go.
God's love for us is not based on our circumstances. It is not based on others and what they do or say to us. God loves simply because He is love (1 John 4:16) Love is part of God's character. His love does not change. His love is not based on our performance. His love does not have conditions. "For great is Your love, reaching to the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches to the skies." (Psalm 57:10) God desires for us to trust Him and believe that He is who He says He is. He is not a man that He should lie (23:19). Every thing God does is right and true and He is faithful in all He does (Psalm 33:4). Remember that God is sovereign. He knows the end from the beginning. He knows what is best for you. We may not see it at the time, but as a child of the Most High God, He is working everything (good and bad) together for your good and His glory (Romans 8:28). Think back on your life for a moment. When did you cry out to God? Was it when everything was going good? More than likely, you cried out to Him when you were at the bottom of the pit, when you saw there was absolutely nothing you could do on your own~when your situation seemed hopeless. That is what happened to me. I came to the end of myself. I was hopeless and miserable trying to do life on my own. God allowed me to go through some very tough times, however, I would go through them all over again because they allowed me to see God for who He really is and to see my desperate need for Him. He lovingly reached down and grabbed hold of me years ago and I have never been the same. Why did He allow me to go through those difficult times? He did it because He loved me and He knew exactly what it would take to bring me to Him.
Now I know as long as I live on this earth, there will be more difficult times. Jesus even promises this, however, He has also promised His peace and to take heart, because He has overcome the world! (John 16:33)
Friend, I don't know what you may be going through right now. But I pray that you will call out to God in the midst of it. He will answer you and surround you with songs of deliverance (Psalm 32:7). His unfailing love also surrounds the man who trusts in Him (Psalm 32:10). Jesus came to earth and died on the cross over two-thousand years ago. He rose again three days later. (Matthew 27:63). He took the penalty for our sin~all of our sin~past, present and future~because God loves us so much and wants a relationship with all (John 3:16). We could never be good enough or do enough good works on our own to get into heaven. No, it is only by the precious blood of Christ. He is all-sufficient. He is the way, the truth and the life! One glorious day, He will come back for His own. He promises that He has prepared a place for us! (John 14:2-3) There, we will be in His presence forever and ever! Hallelujah! Hold on to the hope you have that is in Christ Jesus! Trust in the Lord's unfailing love!
"Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God!" (Psalm 42:11)
