God Is Good All the Time!
"You are good and what You do is good, teach me Your decrees." Psalm 119:68 God is always good. It is not based on your circumstances or how you may feel-He is good all the time. He may allow things in your life that you don't understand; things that are painful and hard, but He has a greater purpose in mind. He may be sifting out the impurities in us. He may be humbling us. He may be showing us that we are not in control-He is. Everything He does is for our good and His glory. Romans 8:28-30 tells us "and we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. For those God foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, he also justified; those He justified, He also glorified." Notice He did not say in the good things or some things, but in ALL things He works for the good of those who love Him. Sometimes God takes us through storms. In our humanness, we might ask, why would God allow such a thing? Or how can a loving God allow this to happen to me? We may not have the answer here in this life, but I can assure you, that when we see Him face to face...everything that we went through on this earth will be as nothing compared to the glory and majesty that will be revealed to us!
I have been through storms and one thing I have learned is that God is right there with me-a very present help in times of trouble-and He gives a peace that only He can give in spite of the difficult situation. He is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. He is the One who holds you in the palm of His hand."The Lord upholds him with His hand." Psalm 37:24 If you are in a storm right now, I want to encourage you to cling to Jesus. Cry out to Him and tell Him how much you need Him. Often times our problems are more than we can handle so that we can see just how BIG our God really is. There is nothing impossible for Him. He created the heavens, the earth and everything in it. "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." Genesis 1:1 Whatever you are going through, God already knew. He sees the end from the beginning. Let Him have His way in your life. Jesus told the disciples they were going to the other side of the water. A big storm came and the disciples were afraid. In that moment, they took their eyes off Him, yet He appeared and calmed the storm and they made it to the other side. (Matthew 14:22-32). I reminded you of this because Jesus will also take you to the other side of your storm. You just have to trust Him. Trust Him and not what is going on around you. It is so easy to look at our circumstances and base God's love for us on them. That is wrong thinking. Focus on Jesus! Your problems may still be there, but they become small and Jesus becomes big. I am in agreement with the Psalmist who wrote, " I am confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living." Then he tells us to "wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord." Psalm 27:13-14
"You turned my wailing into dancing; You removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing to You and not be silent." Psalm 30:11-12 God is no respecter of persons. He will clothe you with joy! He is the only One who can truly satisfy. He is the lover of your soul. He is the One who lifts your head. Believe and trust in His promises! What He has done for people throughout the Bible, He will do for you too. His word is for you. His promises are for you! "The righteous cry out and the Lord hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. A righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers them from them all." Psalm 34:71-19
We serve a good God. A God who is full of mercy, full of compassion and full of unfailing love. His ways are perfect and true. Rest in Him my friend. He is the God of all comfort. "I, even I, am He who comforts you." Isaiah 51:12
"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet My unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor My covenant of peace be removed, says the Lord, who has compassion on you." Isaiah 54:10
