God Chose You!

"To the Lord your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, the earth and everything in it. Yet the Lord set His affection on your forefathers and loved them, and HE CHOSE YOU, their descendants, above all the nations as it is today. Circumcise your hearts, therefore, and do not be stiff-necked or stubborn any longer. for the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes." Deuteronomy 10:14-17
I read those verses and am just blown away, that the mighty God who created everything I see chose me...and you to be blameless and holy in His sight through His one and only Son, Christ Jesus! With Christmas just days away, many people are rushing around buying gifts, baking or making travel plans. It can be easy to get caught up in all the hustle and bustle and forget why we celebrate Christmas. One word, one precious name-and that name is Jesus-the name above all names! Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice by giving His life willingly for you and for me. Jesus is God in the flesh. He left His throne in heaven to fulfill God's plan of redemption. Why did He do this? Why would He give up His throne in heaven to come to earth and be mocked, scorned, beaten and ultimately left to die a brutal death? He did this because of love! "You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrated His own love for us in this: while we were still yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:6-8 God wanted to restore us to Him. He wanted a relationship with us. We could never be good enough, we could never offer enough sacrifices to a holy and righteous God. Our holy God demanded justice. The only thing that could satisfy this debt is One who is spotless, sinless, blameless and perfect....that One my friend is JESUS! Just saying His name makes me smile. Jesus came for one purpose, and that purpose is to save you and me from death and give us new life. "Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now He has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you HOLY in His sight, without blemish and free from accusation-if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel." Colossians 1:21-23
God is love. He is not like us. He is faithful when we aren't, He is true, He is perfect, He is holy and He is merciful. This awesome, powerful wonderful Father thought about you and me and chose us from the beginning. "But we ought always to thank God for you brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God chose you to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth." 2 Thessolonians 2:13
"For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight. In love, He predestined us to be adopted as His sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will-to the praise of His glorious grace, which He has freely given us in the One He loves. In Him, we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that He lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding." Ephesians 1:4-8
"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but  now you are the people of God; once you had  not received mercy, but now you have received mercy." 1 Peter 2:9-10
I pray you will take the time to worship Jesus this Christmas and thank Him for the gift that we could never repay. We can give our lives to Him-to serve, honor and glorify Him. Jesus is the reason we have hope. Jesus is the One who gives new life through His blood. It is only by His blood. "To Him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by His blood and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve His God and Father-to Him be the glory for ever and ever! Amen." Revelation 1:5
