God Will Work It Together For Your Greater Good!
As long as we live on this earth, we will experience joy and gladness, but we will also experience trials and troubles. None of us are immune to tough times and disappointment. If however, you will turn to the Lord in the day of trouble, He will use the very thing that causes you pain or suffering to grow you in Him, give you peace unexplainable and comfort you with the comfort that only He can give. Keep in mind that the trial you may be going through right now is only temporary. God will bring you through to the other side. Until then, know and believe that God will work it all together for your greater good and His glory. "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28)."
David who was a "man after God's own heart" (Acts 13:22), experienced great heartache and suffering. However, David chose to keep his eyes on the Lord instead of his circumstances. Out of his obedience and inspired by the Holy Spirit, he wrote many of the Psalms. A part of the Bible that gives us great comfort and encouragement today. While sufferingis not easy, it is in our suffering, that we see for ourselves how faithful God is!
There are things we go through now that cause us to ask the question why? Why did I lose that great job? Why did my loved one have to die? Why do I have a chronic illness? Why did that relationship have to end? Why do I struggle to pay the bills every month? Why am I still single? Why has my prayer not been answered? It is okay to ask why, but even if God gave you an answer you may never understand this side of heaven.
So what do you do when your circumstances are overwhelming or you feel like God has abandoned you? First and foremost, remember the character of God. He is good! His goodness is not based on your circumstances or your performance, goodness is a part of who He is. "Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! His mercy endures forever (Psalm 136:1)." He is faithful! "Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God, who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love Him and keep His commandments, to a thousand generations (Deuteronomy 7:9)." He is merciful! "He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His great mercy. He saved us throught the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:5)." He is compassionate! "Because of your great compassion you did not abandon them in the wilderness. By day the pillar of cloud did not fail to guide them on their path, nor the pillar of fire by night to shine on the way they were to take (Nehemiah 9:19)." He is loving! But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness (Psalm 86:15)." He is just! "Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore He will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for Him (Isaiah 30:18)!" He is in control! "He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together (Colossians 1:17)."
Since we know all of these things, we can rest assured that our gracious God, who holds us in the palm of His hand will work it out in His perfect time and in His perfect way. We don't have to try and figure it all out, we just need to trust the One who is already there. He is for you. He will never leave you. He loves you with and unfailing love. He will keep you until the day of redemption.
