No Matter What It Looks Like, God Is In Control

"Then the Lord said to satan, 'Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil. And he still maintains his integrity, though you incited me against him to ruin him without any reason (Job 2:3)."
The Lord is on His throne and in complete control. Every single thing you go through, must first pass through His loving hands. satan is not the opposite of God, he is a created being. Though the world is "under the power of the evil one" (1 John 5:19), satan must ask permission from the Lord before he can do anything. His plans are always to cause division in families, friendships or partnerships, cause doubt, and damage your testimony. "The thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it abundatly (John 10:10)." It is important to remember that satan is our enemy, not man.
You may be asking some questions such as, if God is good and in control, why is He allowing all of this devastation in my life? Why have my prayers gone unanswered? Why am I dealing with this sickness? Why did my loved one die? Why am I struggling in my finances?
While I don't have the answers to these questions, I do know with certainty, that God is good and everything He allows in your life will always be for your greater good and His glory (Romans 8:28-29). The pain, the heartache and the loss that we experience on earth are in part because of the fall of man in the Garden of Eden. When God created the world and everything in it, it was good, very good (Genesis 1:31). Adam and Eve walked with God. They felt no shame. Eden was a beautiful and perfect place. That is until Eve was deceived by the serpent (satan) and she and Adam ate of the one tree God specifically commanded them not to or "they will surely die (Genesis 2:17). Thus, sin entered the world. We are not sinners because we sin, we are sinners by nature. We all inherited this sinful nature from Adam. There is no one that is righteous, not one (Romans 3:10).
So back to the question, if God is good and in control, why is He allowing this devastation in my life? Please hear my heart, God does not allow pain and heartache in our lives without having a divine purpose behind it. He is righteous~moral and upright~ in all His ways and loving towards all He has made (Psalm 145:17). God stands alone; His wisdom and knowledge are incomprehensible. God's ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:9). You and I only "see" what is happening right now, in the present. However, God sees the end from the beginning. We must trust that though our present circumstances are not good, God is good and His plans for us are always for our ultimate good.
We were created by Him and for Him (Colossians 1:16). God knows what it takes to cause you to lean on Him and become more and more like His Son. This means that sometimes you will be taken through the fire. The fire is not meant to destroy you, but to rid you of anything that is not like Christ. It is in the afflictions that our faith is proved genuine. Dear friend, God will bring you through it to a place of abundance (Psalm 66:12). He is faithful and His grace is sufficient.
Life is at times hard, but if you will focus on Jesus and keep your eyes on Him, He will fill you with His supernatural peace and joy in the midst of the darkest moments.
Praise God this life is not all there is! One glorious day, Jesus is coming back. Until that day, hold on to the hope you have in Him.
