Only Satisfied In You

"You have made known to me the path of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence, with eternal pleasures at Your right hand (Psalm 16:11)."
My friend, Jesus is the only one who can fulfill the deep longing you have within. He is life; there is joy in His presence. He will come in and fill the void that is in your heart and make you whole. Jesus created you, therefore, He is the only one who can truly satisfy. It is only when you come to Him, your soul is at rest and you have peace with God.
Until you come to Jesus, you will try to fill the void with many things. Some may try to fill it with relationships, some may fill it with drugs or alcohol, some may fill it with material things, some may fill it with work, and some may fill it with religious activities. All of these things will leave you empty and continually wanting more. Jesus is the answer; the living water. When you drink from the water He gives you, you will never thirst again (John 4:14).
We are all sinful. There is none righteous (Romans 3:10). We want to do things our way and like to think we are in control. Many feel that if they come to Jesus, they will have to give up so much. But the truth is, when we come to Christ we gain freedom, joy, peace and life. The things that we "give up" were things that were never good for us to begin with. Once saved, God fills you with His Spirit. He changes your desires so that you want the things of God. Instead of pleasing the flesh, you want to please God. This is something that only He can do~His marvelous grace! He wants you to come just as you are. You don't need to try harder or do more "religious" activities or try to be a better person. The work has already been done at the cross. Jesus said on the cross over two-thousand years ago, "It is finished" (John 19:30) which means all you need to do is simply come. He paid the price for all of your sin-past, present and future. And God is the one who changes you from the inside out. He is the one who makes you a new creation. He is the one who sets you free from the heavy chains of sin. He declares you righteous by the blood of the Lord Jesus. You are no longer an enemy of God, but a friend (John 15:15).
He is a good Father. He is perfect, truth, faithful, loving, kind, just, merciful, holy, forgiving, long-suffering, and righteous in everything that He does. Because of who God is, you can trust that He will take care of you, fight for you, and will always work things together for your good (Philippians 4:19, Exodus 14:14, Romans 8:28).
We are all born "spiritually blind." It is not until we come to Jesus that the Lord removes the veil that is over our eyes and we can see. "But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. Nevertheless, when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord (2 Corinthians 3:14-18)."
For the years leading up until the day I was saved-I was blind, but did not realize I was blind because the veil had not been lifted. I had always "believed" in Jesus and what He did for me on the cross. But even the demons believe and they tremble (James 2:19). My belief was only head-knowledge. The truth had not penetrated my heart. On the outside, it looked as if I was saved. I went to church, I sang worship songs, I went to Bible study....but I was no different from the world. I was like the Pharisees Jesus spoke about when He said, "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside they are full of robbery and self-indulgence (Matthew 23:25)."
However, when I came to the end of myself in March of 2008, and cried out to God for mercy, on that day He removed the veil and put His Spirit in me. He began to change me from the inside. I no longer wanted to do the things I once did. I know longer wanted to live for my own selfish desires. On that day, I had truly tasted and saw that the Lord is good. He opened my eyes and gave me new life. I have never been the same.
My life is far from perfect and I am far from perfect; I have gone through and will continue to go through trials and difficulties but through it all my Jesus satisfies my soul. He gives me peace that passes all human understanding. He gives me strength and grace day after day. He is my living hope. No matter what I face, I know that He will never leave me. His love is better than life. And because of what He has done for me, my lips will always praise Him and I will give Him glory as long as I live! This life is not all there is. One day, I will see Him face to face and I will be like Him. "Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when He appears we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is (1 John 2:2)."
