You Were Uniquely Created By God
"The Word of the Lord came to me, saying, 'Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart. I appointed you as a prophet to the nations' (Jeremiah 1:4-5)."
"Know that the Lord is God. it is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture (Psalm 100:3)."
I don't know what place you are in your life. You may be struggling with insecurity~maybe because of something that happened in your past or maybe you are in an unhealthy relationship or maybe from ridicule or rejection from a loved one. Wherever you are, know this my friend, that you are precious and dearly loved by God. He created you and in Christ Jesus you have purpose. You are accepted, you are cherished and you are beautiful. There is only one "you," and you were not an accident. God knew you before the foundation of the earth. He knows every detail about you. Even the hairs on your head are numbered. "Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs on your head are numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows (Matthew 10:29-31)."
Words from others are very powerful. They have the power to both build up and tear down. So we have to be careful and pay attention to the hateful or negative words others say to us or about us, and not let them sink down into our hearts. You have to choose to let damaging words go. Not only let them go, but replace them with what God says about you. You must spend time meditating on the truth of His word. You are God's "treasured possession" (Deuteronomy 7:6). You are the apple of His eye (Psalm 17). You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). He takes great delight in you and He rejoices over you with singing (Zephaniah 3:17).
You, my friend, were created by God to fulfill a purpose that only you can fill. We are all commanded to go into all the world and preach the gospel and make disciples, but we each have a certain sphere of people that God has entrusted to us to influence for His glory. This includes everyone that you come into contact with~your family, your friends, people at your job, people at the gym you go to, people at church, people at the stores you go to and people living on the streets you drive by each day. If you don't think God could ever use someone like you, think again my friend! Look at the many men and women of the Bible He used. Some were murderers, some were adulterers, some persecuted the church, some were poor, some were very young, some didn't have eloquent speech, some were fishermen and some were slaves. They all however, had this in common: they loved the Lord and were obedient to His call.
God will use anyone; anyone who will follow Him no matter the cost. "Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice (1 Samuel 15:22)." The key is trusting the Lord and taking Him at His word. It doesn't matter what others say or how you may feel and it doesn't matter what your circumstances are, God just wants you~all of you! He takes the broken pieces of our heart and our lives and turns them into something so beautiful and uses us for His glory! This is what living is all about....living for His glory and building His kingdom! What matters is what each of us has done for our Lord. "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do (Ephesians 2:10)." You see, as followers of Christ, God has given each of us gifts to serve others. These gifts come from the Holy Spirit. "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in various forms (1 Peter 4:10)."
Some have the gift of encouraging, some have teaching, others have the gift of serving, others giving, others have the gift of leadership, some have the gift of showing mercy and others have the gift of prophesying. Whatever gift you have, God has uniquely given this special gift to you to grow His kingdom.
If you are still not sure what your gift is. First pray and ask God to reveal it to you. Next, think about something you are passionate about. What do you find joy in? What makes your heart happy? What are you good at? Beloved, as a child of the King, God has indeed given you gifts, gifts that are specifically designed for you to bring our Lord glory.
You matter! You are worthy! You are a child of the Most High God! "In Him, we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will. In order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of His glory. And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit-who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession-to the praise of His glory (Ephesians 1:11-14)."
