Kept By God

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade-kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time (1 Peter 1:1-5)."
Read those words again, and let them sink deep into your heart. Friend, as followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, we are kept by God until the day He comes back for us. This is the hope that we have, this hope is an anchor for our souls-Jesus Christ. Life is hard and there are days when you may feel  you cannot take another step. But as you turn your eyes to Jesus and rest in who He is, He will give you the strength you need to face any challenge this life has to offer. It is in knowing that this life is not all there is. It is trusting Jesus with all our heart, knowing that He stands in our defense and He will never leave nor forsake us.
We have an eternal home awaiting us, where we will be in the glorious presence of our Savior forever and ever! "And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, 'Now the dwelling of God is with men, and He will dwell with them. They will be His people and God Himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.' He who was seated on the throne said, 'I am making everything new!' Then He said, 'write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true' (Revelation 21:3-5)."
God has given us a future and a hope, but what do we do when life gets tough and seemingly unbearable in the here and now? Friend, you must stand firm, stand firm on God's word and His promises. You need to know for yourself that what God says, that He will do. It is good to surround yourself with godly people and it is good to go to church and listen to Christian music, but you need to search the scriptures for yourself and let God speak to you. You cannot always depend on someone else....God longs for an intimate relationship with you. That deep longing you have in your heart can only be filled by the Lord Jesus-not people, not circumstances and not possessions-only Jesus. He is the only one who can truly satisfy. It is in Him you find the peace that passes all understanding, joy unspeakable, endless mercy, freedom, forgiveness of sin and a faithful friend who will never leave you! He is the anchor of your soul in the good times and bad times. God is sovereign, He is in complete control of everything and He holds all things together. "For by Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together (Colossians 1:15-17)."
God is good all the time. This is not based on your circumstances, but on the character of God. He is compassionate, full of mercy, loving, holy, glorious, righteous and true. When your circumstances are hard, focus not on the circumstances, but on the amazing God who can make a way where there seems to be no way. Focus on His goodness and His kindness. Trust Him and know that He will work out your situation for your good and His glory. "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers (Romans 8:28-29)."
Praise God in everything my friend. There is someone watching your life to see if it matches up with what you say you believe. When you go through struggles, as you continue to praise God instead of complaining, others see this and God gets the glory. Have you ever thought that God is preparing you for an amazing testimony? And after you've made it through to the other side, you can comfort others with the same comfort you yourself received from God!
In the meantime, remember that you are kept by God. Nothing happens to you that does not first pass through His loving hands. Your story is still being written....be prepared for His glorious unfolding. Stay strong my friend and let nothing move you!
"The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory though our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always giving yourself fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58)."
