Pray Until God Gives You the Answer

"Then he continued, do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them. But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia (Daniel 10: 12-13)."
Do you understand what is happening here? As Daniel made the choice to follow God and gain wisdom from Him, he prayed. The answer did not come immediately even though his words were heard right away. Twenty-one days later, his answer came. But before he received his answer, there was a battle going on which delayed the answer. It is the same for you and me today. The last thing satan wants is for our prayers to be answered. Fortunately for you and me, as children of the Most High God, the victory has already been won for us. But while we wait for the answer to our prayers, satan will try to cause us to doubt. He will try to throw stumbling blocks our way. He will do anything he can, to cause us to take our eyes off of Jesus. That is why it is so important for us to hold fast to our position in Christ and to not give up just short of the victory.
When you pray, sometimes God will give you the answer immediately, but other times, you have to wait for the Lord. He is all-knowing, all-powerful and in complete control and He knows what is best for each one of us. Remember that He sees the end from the beginning. That being said, He knows your struggle, He knows the longing of your heart and He hears each word you pray. "Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all the saints, on the golden altar before the throne. The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of the saints, went up before God from the angels hand (Revelation 8: 3-4)."
Always keep in mind the character of God. He is gracious, loving, compassionate, slow to anger, patient, faithful, trustworthy and righteous. He will never go against His character-it is who He is. We tend to think that we know what is best for us, but we really don't. How often have you prayed for something and later on were very thankful God did not give you what you were asking for? God will never disappoint you my friend. Sometimes He answers prayer with a yes, but other times it is no. When He says no, trust that He has your best in mind. His "no" means that He has something better in store for you. He is a God who delights in giving gifts to His children and giving them the desires of their hearts. "Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37: 3-4)."
Be persistent in prayer and don't stop until God gives you the answer. Wait on Him. He will give you the answer in the perfect time. Until that happens, trust Him and be confident that He is working it all out for your good and His glory. Don't rush ahead of Him and don't try to figure it out on your own. As you wait on Him, you will learn patience and you will learn perseverance; things you cannot learn if you always get everything you ask for immediately.
Ask God  to strengthen your character, give you endurance, and give you His grace while you wait. It will all be worth it my friend!
"Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up (Galatians 6:9)."
