Why Was I Born?

Have you ever asked the question, Why was I born? I think if we were honest, each of us at some point in our life have asked that question. Life can be very challenging at times. There may even be times where you pray for God to take you home.
I want to encourage you today with the hope that God gives us through His word.
"For You created me in my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be. How PRECIOUS to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with You." Psalm 139: 13-18
My friend, read those verses again and let them sink into your heart and mind. The God who created the heavens and the universe, knit you together with His loving hands. His thoughts towards you and me are precious and we couldn't even begin to count them. You are not here by chance. You are here because of God. He knew your name before there was time. He knew everything about you before you were even born. He has a great plan for you! Jeremiah 29:11 tells us, "For I  know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future."
No matter what you may be going through right now, God stands ready to take you to the other side. It is up to you to take the step of faith and take God at His word-to believe what He says is true. And not only to believe it, but to believe that He wants to do it for YOU. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. Hebrews 11:6
You may think that you are nobody special or one that God could not use. All you have to do is look through the Bible to see that God uses the broken, the sinners, the backsliders, the scared and the poor to reach others for Him and for His glory. You may think, well I don't have a big platform like Joyce Meyers, Beth Moore, Chip Ingram, Charles Stanley or John Hagee, but friend, all of these great men and women of God started out small. They had a vision-something that God put in their hearts and they were obedient to follow His call. God began a work in them and continued to mold them and shape their character. He will do the same for you and for me. He shows no partiality.Deuteronomy 10:17 You have a sphere of influence that only you can reach, whether it be people at your workplace, the gym, your neighborhood or your local grocery store. God wants to use you right where you are at. You may be thinking, I have such a hectic schedule with work, children and sports...I don't have much extra time. But God already knows your schedule and He can create divine appointments for you within that schedule. It may be at a gas station. It may be helping an older person with their groceries. It may be buying lunch for someone on your lunch break. It may be listening to a co-worker that really needs someone. It may be buying a cup of coffee for someone or giving a homeless person some money or clothes. You never know how and when opportunities are going to show up, but I promise you, that if you pray and ask God to help you be a light in this dark world, He will bring people across your path.
"He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created; things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him AND FOR HIM." Colossians 1:15-16
"And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him." Colossians 3:17
These verses sum up our purpose in life. God created us for Him and for His glory. Whatever you do, whether it is a cashier, a janitor, an artist, singer, preacher, business owner, secretary, teacher, farmer or bank teller, do it bringing glory to the Lord. Ask the Lord to show you people you can be a blessing to. There are always people that need encouragement. There also may be someone that is struggling financially and you can bless them with the gift of money. There may be someone who just needs you to listen to them or pray with them. It is always more blessed to give than to receive. Acts 20:35
My prayer for each person reading this is summed up in these verses from Ephesians,
"I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints and His incomparably great power for us who believe." 1:17-19
